...
I saw the you in the moonlight,
I cannot see the moon anymore.

The city breathes below my feet,
Its noise rises every passing moment
in a language I cannot understand.
I try to hold the silence you gave me,
but it slips through my fingers.

The sky waits,
but my eyes are full of earth.
The moon burns,
but I have forgotten how to look.

Once the silence held You.
Closer than my own breath,
The night spoke in Your voice.
The stars were letters
I could read without knowing.

The moon waits, patient,
burning through everything I hold
that is not You.

I stand beneath the two
watching the city lights,
The moon is burning bright above my head,
I see the moon,
I see where I am standing,
Why I cannot see you anymore, my lord?

LIES THERE YOUR HOME STARK
.......................................................
K. C. Das
..............
When here and there on earth I roam,
I hear some unknown voice say,
"Come here, come here, come home,
"To sing, dance and play.

"When the earth looks gray, brown and green,
"When the sun and the moon shine,
"When the rainbow is seen
"Your home is fair , fine.

"Where fire burns all your hopes and dreams
"Where all your enemies lurk
"Where each of tear drops beams,
"Lies there your home stark.

"Shun the shelter made up of pain,
"Come home and enjoy your stay,
"In the sun, in the rain
" Be happy, be gay."

"Where's my home ? Where my shelter lies !"
Echoes the query in vain,
Grins the earth, smiles the skies,
Dozes my old brain.

I know not where my shelter is,
Where is my home ? I know not,
I wander and seek peace,
On plains, in sands hot.

LEAVE WILL I NOT TO COME AGAIN
...............................................................
K. C. Das
...............
In the course of the journey long
To keep the weak soul strong, brave,
From the cradle to the grave,
I choose the paths both right and wrong.

With flickering candles at night ,
Amidst the autumn mist thick,
My soul, though feeble and meek,
Against the dense dark tries to fight.

As long as on this earth I stay,
I'll face all things bad and good,
I'll meet all faces kind, rude,
I'll stand all weather rough and gay.

I love the void and earth the best,
Everything is dear to me,
Yet for good here I can't be,
I'll leave you all when I need rest.

Leave will I not to come again,
Come I not to run a race,
No more will I seek your face,
I won't want what I can't regain.

Moonlit scars they are
to compose some music strange
when dulcet dreams die
They bring back the days I've lost
when I sit or stand alone

IN THIS STRANGE MORN I NEED THEM ALL
........................................................................
K. C. Das
...............
This melancholic morning breeze,
And this waning light,
Seem to stand together to please,
Black clouds with their might.
Yes, they check the rise of the sun,
Over active earth
Yeah though seems soft may become stern,
So quick, in full mirth.

In this unique hour of of the day,
I feel I am lost
To the faces new, strange but gay,
Of themselves they boast.

This odd morning and this weak light
Take me to the land,
Where love and malice always fight,
On some hot, rude sand.

Now my lonely heart seeks those eyes,
And those moments gone,
Without them the true 'me' can't rise,
I'll get me undone.

In this strange morn I need them all,
My life they do reign,
I need each of them, big or small
To find me again.

A LONG LULLABY I DO SING
................................................
K. C. Das
...............
Let me be soft even when damn me hard my days,
The savage storm subdues my ship,
The enigmatical earth erases all rays,
Thunders my courage bury deep.

Let the evensong make me strong but calm and meek,
Though my wounded hopes sigh and flee,
Even when life plays with my feelings hide and seek,
I breathe soft, I try to be me.

With all their vain glories when all my failures shout,
When smiles hide, though visits me Spring,
When all round me unceasingly all foes come out,
A long lullaby I do sing.
