Querida Comunidad!

I would love to invite you all to view my students original written plays based on interviews they did on 3 phenomenonal community leaders

Dr. Martha González of Chicano Band Quetzal @marthartivista @quetzalmusic
Moctesuma Esparza Movie Producer of Selena, Walkout, HS Walkout Leader and owner of @milagrocinemas
Odilia Romero, Indigenous Leader of Non-Profit Cielo @odilia_yego @mycielo_org

I am eternally grateful for the collaboration with Theater Non-Profit @aboutpd to their admin, teaching artists Brandon & Marta and lead teaching artist, who happens to be my soul sister en la vida y lucha, Marlene Beltran.

This is a labor of love that began in September and we are now ready to uplift the work of these incredible community leaders through the arts. It is now more than ever so important that we document & share our stories.

It is one day only at the new state of the arts Roosevelt HS auditorium and free with RSVP. Please share with others who you may think would be interested.

I hope you are able to join us for this special event of community theater and resistance through the arts.

In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, I was proud to recognize nine exceptional Fifth District honorees who are feeding the soul of our community. Whether it’s through food, the arts, or community connection, each of them are investing joy and unity into the lives of residents through their presence, contributions, and talents.
Congratulations and thank you to:

💭 Optimism (noun): hopefulness and confidence about the future or the successful outcome of something.

It’s one thing to have hope in something, it’s a totally different ball game to believe in it with certainty.

Theresa Chavez @aboutpd and our host Yura Sapi @yurasapi encourages creatives to keep optimism at the core of what you do!
