This Wednesday, July 15th - Trellis kicks off our show at @2220arts. Since the release of their debut album earlier this year, the duo of Jesse Perlstein (@absentwarrior) and Michael Chadwick (@low_res_chungus) have demonstrated their ability to meld detailed field recordings and expressive ambient with song structure and musicality. This performance will showcase all new music from the experimental duo. Don’t miss it!

Trellis performs first in a lineup with haana lee and Qur’an Shaheed.

Sitting with this work for several weeks now, I’m reflecting on how it registers the pressures of conformity, fantasies of agency within unforgiving systems, and the lapses of capture.

I also wonder if it’s channeling this trend of capture systems that I think is ultimately tragic. I’ve felt in the past that the body has a kind of innate resistance to encoding, which I feel on a visceral level when I see a program or machine absurdly misread or misrepresent my body and its motion. But lately, I’ve just been kind of impressed at how well I’m already doing what it suggests I should be.
