Welcome our new friends Abstract Junction to the Covington Cryptid Block Party with their apparel and beautiful embroidery work. #covingtoncryptidblockparty #cryptidscometocovington #covlovescryptids A cute illustration of a sort of manic looking sheepsquatch dressed like a pirate. Hat and sash and peg leg. It is holding a bag full of candy and smiling. The words say Abstract Junction: embroidery, chain stitching, apparel.

How do we measure Cincinnati Art Week? In smiles. In conversations. In unexpected connections. In moments of inspiration. In new perspectives. In strangers becoming friends. In pride. In the small moments that make a community feel like a community. In art. In people. In possibility. All of this & more. Thanks to all who have joined us. See you until 7pm tonight, on the streets for @blinkcincinnati and again tomorrow from noon-7pm. 🤍 Cell phone candids from the team. More photos & recaps to come.

We finally had a chance to experience @cincinnatiartweek yesterday, and what a gift to the city, the artists, and the 16 SPACES they’ve brought to life. If you haven’t made it downtown yet, you still have two days! Explore Cincinnati Art Week from 12–7, grab some dinner, then keep the night going at @blinkcincinnati. It’s a very good weekend to be in Cincinnati! We’re incredibly grateful JoyDrop got to play a small part in it all, with our Pearl sticker + capsule machines popping up in two spaces. There was so much to take in, but a quote we came across along the way (last slide) felt especially fitting for this week and for this little business we’ve been building. So much inspiration, so much creativity, and so much JOY 💕 Awesome work to the entire CAW team.

It was a real treat painting my contribution to @abstractjunction Portal to the Cosmic Home, a multi-artist experience connected with @cincinnatiartweek this upcoming week! @raemillerarts and I discussed portals and cosmos and light and all the in-betweens that connect to the works and activations in the Cosmic Home experience. I continually return to stars and clouds, she often includes suns and moons. This window painting merges our personal creative inclinations (color scheme, style) and functions as a literal portal—peeking through the clouds, you see the Cosmic Home and find the door is the Portal to it. This is my largest window painting and one of the most fun! Thank you to Rae for the window space, for painting with me and helping make a nice Home for the very first @cincinnatiartweek follow @abstractjunction and partake in the festivities this coming week!
