September’s Abuja Reads. We read Lost Ark Dreaming by @suyidavies, a drowned Lagos where the rich live at the very top, and somehow it turned into a whole debate about billionaires.

Where I stand: I don’t think they should exist. The book just made that harder to unsee.

Festival of Reading is tomorrow. DM @abujareads for details.

Please, when donating books to schools, libraries, book clubs, or organisations that promote reading, let’s pay attention to the condition of the books we give. Torn, dirty, and incomplete books are not the kind of donations we should be making.

A book donation should be an act of generosity, not a way to dispose of things we no longer want♡📖🌷

A little update on what I’ve been reading lately♡📖🌷

I’ve finished two books, I’m currently hooked on two more, and there’s one I stopped at 57% that I can’t wait to get back to!

Also, I finally understand the title of I’m Glad My Mom Died.
Bookworms, what are you currently reading? And have you ever left a book halfway through and then randomly felt the urge to finish it months later? 🤗

Did you struggle to go out now as an adult and did you also hear this a lot while growing up??😂

If you’re in Abuja and you’d love to be the lucky winner of the ticket, let me know in the comment section why you’d like to go to the festival. I’ll be picking a winner randomly!

Deadline is tomorrow, Saturday🤭✨
Winner will be contacted on Sunday.

Please do well to leave your house. It’s about time. Here’s somewhere you can go. @abujareads

You’re welcome!✨💗

There are books we read because we want to, but there are some we were influenced to read…… and honestly, these are the ones that got me. Not because I went looking for a sign, but because somebody's "wait, you HAVE to read this" just sat in my head rent-free until I caved.
That's the power of a good bookstagrammer, you don't even realize you've been influenced until your TBR says otherwise 😭

So tell me what book did YOU get because someone put you on? And who was the one that did it? 👇🏾

*THE MENACE OF OVERLOADING: WHEN PROFIT COMES BEFORE HUMAN LIFE*

*By Okoye Daniel.C.*

In Abuja, the alarming habit of taxi drivers carrying more passengers than their vehicles are legally designed to accommodate has become a troubling public safety concern. What should be a simple journey to work, school, or home can quickly turn into a dangerous gamble when drivers prioritise extra fares over the safety and comfort of their passengers.

It is disturbing to see drivers sitting comfortably behind the steering wheel while passengers are squeezed together, sometimes sharing seats, sitting on laps or occupying spaces never intended for seating.

This is not merely an issue of discomfort; it is a serious threat to human life.

Overloading compromises passenger safety, restricts movement, increases the risk of injury during sudden braking or collisions, and can distract drivers. In an emergency, every extra passenger becomes another life at risk. No amount of additional fare is worth the potential loss of innocent lives.

The authorities must strengthen enforcement of passenger limits, while taxi operators must recognise that their responsibility extends beyond collecting fares.

Passengers, too, must refuse to participate in this dangerous practice and report persistent offenders where appropriate.

A taxi is not a moving passenger warehouse, and human lives are not cargo to be squeezed in for extra profit.

Abuja deserves a transport system built on responsibility, discipline and respect for human life.

It is time to stop normalising this recklessness before another avoidable tragedy occurs.

Let safety take the front seat, not greed.
