Inspiration in every direction 🌿

A little diary of running around @mutekmontreal to catch sets and workshops after my own set. So proud that so many friends made it on stage this year!
10/10 would overstimulate myself again.

Two weeks after the 27th edition of MUTEK Montréal, we look back through images at six days of the Festival and some of the impressions shared by the media who joined us this year.

From live and audiovisual performances to the free outdoor stage and the different venues across the Quartier des spectacles, local, Canadian and international media reflected on the Festival’s approach to experimentation and discovery, the space it gives artists, and its connection to Montréal.

A few excerpts:

“MUTEK doesn’t need to simplify experimental music to make it accessible; putting it in the middle of the city seems to be enough.” — @clashmagazine

“MUTEK maps experimental music across genre and discipline, a bucket-list destination for the most esoteric raver that still functions as an entry point for curious passersby.” — @pitchfork

“MUTEK is for discovery — discoveries that will have you reliving the events in your head years after.” — @cultmtl

“MUTEK is less about chasing a traditional festival headliner moment than stepping into a living circuit board of sound, movement, and image.” — @read.range

“A bitter winter is around the bend, yet in the August days framing MUTEK, Montréal seemed utopian.” — @stereogum

Thank you to the artists, audiences, teams, collaborators, partners and media who took part in this 27th edition.

See you August 24–29, 2027, for the 28th edition of MUTEK Montréal: Sensitive Waves.

MUTEK celebrates the vitality and diversity of creative practices developed in Québec.

Bringing together artists from a wide range of backgrounds, the local scene is shaped by distinct sonic, visual and digital approaches. Throughout the Festival, artists based in Québec share their work alongside voices from across Canada and around the world, creating connections between different perspectives, practices and contexts.

This work is made possible through the support of the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec (@lecalq) and the Government of Québec (@mccquebec & @economieqc)

This summer I carried around my small canon IXUS digi cam. I took a lot of photos, some of them are alright, some of them mean something. It was a challenge to narrow it down to 20 pictures for this post, so I guess that’s a good thing? But summer isn’t over yet…more to come ?

Over the past few days, the Expérience stage has been showing us all that today’s electronic artists from at home and abroad have to offer.

And we still have two more nights to go!
