Just had to jump on this trend because it’s so true and so funny 😂🤎 But this girl? The only thing intimidating about her is how fast she’ll steal your heart.

Meet SAGE 🌿—a stunning brindle pittie, 2 years old, 74 lbs, spayed, and ready for her family. 🐾

Her previous family lost their housing and were devastated to lose her but say she’s:
✨ House + crate trained
✨ Amazing with children
✨ Friendly with dogs of all sizes
✨ So good with tricks and obedience

She loves toys, pool splashes, long walks, and rolling in the grass. She’s playful and settles nicely once she’s out of her kennel and going out for walks and playtime. 🤎

She’s been waiting since June 18 and is one of the longest term residents at SLO county shelter so her time is limited 🆘 Let’s get this beautiful girl HOME.

Meet volunteer favorite, Bella!! This incredibly sweet 8 year old gal is in foster care, under @slocountyanimalservices, but ready for her furever home!!

From her foster Mom: “Meet Bella! Ms. Bella is the ultimate family dog and is thriving in her foster home.
Bella is gentle, peaceful and just happy to be around you and go with the flow. Dropping kids off at school, cooking in the kitchen, doing chores, reading bedtime stories, working in the garden . . . Bella is your trusty sidekick!
She loves to play fetch and will bring her ball or toy right to your feet. She loves a stroll around the neighborhood or beach, or going for a car ride. She doesn’t require miles a day, but sure is excited to go where you’re going.
It is clear that Bella was well loved by her previous family, because she is affectionate, seeks connection, and is accepting of everyone and every dog she has met. She would do well with another dog friend, or as a solo companion.
A few bonus points: House trained, gentle with kids, great on leash or off, great house manners, does not dig, does not bark at other dogs or people, doesn’t jump on people or kids, has excellent recall, and is very friendly with new people and dogs. Bella is a total catch!”

A beautiful brown-and-black Shepherd mix with the gentlest heart and so much love to give.🫶

Somehow, she’s spent months waiting for a family that has never come. 💔

Jazz has never known a home of her own. The only love she’s experienced has come from the incredible kennel staff and volunteers who care for her every day.

The heartbreaking truth? Jazz isn’t being overlooked because of who she is. She landed in a tiny rural shelter that almost no one knows exists. In all of 2025, only five dogs were adopted from this shelter.

Every day this summer, she’s slept in an outdoor kennel while temperatures climbed well over 100°. She’s waited so patiently for someone to choose her.

When I met Jazz, she completely stole my heart. She adored my kids, soaked up every bit of affection, and reminded me what an incredible family dog she’s going to be.

UPDATE: ADOPTED 🎉😭🫶Some dogs end up in shelters because life changed.

Others end up there because someone simply left them behind.

💔 Josie and her brother, Deebo, were found abandoned in California’s hot Central Valley and brought to the small shelter in Avenal—a tiny rural shelter that very few people even know exists. Because of that, these incredible dogs rarely get visitors, and so many are overlooked through no fault of their own.

We couldn’t stop thinking about them.

So this weekend, we gave Josie a little taste of the life every dog deserves.

She traded concrete for grass. Kennels for cozy couches. Shelter noise for beach walks, hiking trails, golf course strolls, pup cups, car rides, and endless love from her host family.

And you know what?

She absolutely thrived.

Josie is 5 years old and has the sweetest, gentlest soul. She’s calm, easygoing, and simply happy to be wherever her people are. She loves meeting new people, soaks up every ear scratch, walks beautifully on leash, and has been wonderful with every dog she’s met. She also did great with kids and handled all of our public adventures like she’d been doing them her whole life.

She’s the kind of dog who doesn’t ask for much—just someone to walk beside, a soft place to nap, and a family to love with her whole heart.

The best news? Her brother, Deebo, found a long-term foster after this weekend. 🩵

Now it’s Josie’s turn. 🩷

We’re hoping she never has to walk back into that shelter kennel again. We know her person is out there—they just haven’t met her yet.

As one of our long-term residents at Woods, Max is ready for his fresh start!
I’m Max! A 4-year-old American Bulldog mix, and yes... I’m basically a certified good boy. I’ve been here for a while now, and I’ve become a staff and volunteer favorite—they say I’m a big love bug! Even though I love all the attention I get here, I’d really love a family of my own.

I’m house-trained, know how to sit (especially if treats are involved), and I’m an all-around happy guy. Oh, and I look extremely handsome in a bandana. It’s kind of my thing.

If you’re looking for a loyal, treat-loving best friend who will keep you smiling, I’m your boy!
