Today is my birthday, also summer solstice, and Father’s Day too.

Life has still been life — & the world has felt heavy, too. Messy, beautiful, heartbreaking, surprising. But this birthday, I’m realizing just how much has changed in my own life.

I’ve always believed people could change, even when others told me they couldn’t. What I didn’t have was my own proof. Now I do.

When I was lil, I was on one path. Then life happened, as sometimes it does. If u know me u know & along the way I lost sight of myself. Today, it feels like I’ve found my way back.

Not because of one big breakthrough. It’s been a slow uprise. A lot of small choices. A lot of consistency. A lot of people helping me along the way. When I say consistency, I don’t mean perfection. I still have hard days. The diff is that I keep coming back. The thoughts that once kept me stuck still visit, but they don’t stay as long anymore. That’s how I know things are changing.

I’ve also spent the past yr living in a place that feels like a gift. A place that feels safe. Mourning doves outside my window sill, nesting. A mulberry tree close enough to reach, sunlight blazing thru the kitchen, and a backyard all wild & jungly, giving those upstate feelies I’ve been craving. It’s giving me room to breathe & grow.

I get to do work I genuinely love. I work alongside one of my closest friends, travel to new places, meet incredible artists, & help create opportunities for artists whose work we deeply believe in. Somewhere along the way, I realized I wasn’t just healing—I was becoming the person I needed when I was younger. And for the first time, my present/future feels bigger than my past.

My relationship w/ my mom has healed in ways I once thought were impossible. I’ve lost people too. My dad didn’t get to see this chapter of my life, and I wish he had. I would have loved to show him.

More than anything, I feel grateful. Grateful for the people who believed in me. Grateful that I held on. Grateful to be here.

If there’s one thing these last few years have taught me, it’s this -It’s never too late to change.

I’ve always believed that. Now I finally have my own proof.

Hello 48. I welcome you. 💪✧🌷♋︎🌙

2021 was a mixed year, there was loss and sickness in my life and in those of people very dear to me, there was also a lot of creativity and fun. I was lucky to spend a lot of time with my family this year, and with friends both old and new. Here are some of my favorite pictures of friends old and new from this year. Happy new year, may 2022 bring all of us good things!
