It finally feels like I’m coming up for air. 🥹

Settling into two locations, wearing different hats, and trying to give each one the best of me has been a journey in itself.

I remember telling one of my best friends that this season was going to stretch me. And, well… I wasn’t wrong. 😂

The stretch has come in the form of the Ashesi Venture Incubator (AVI), the flagship programme of the Ashesi University Center for Entrepreneurship. I’m incredibly proud to be part of Cohort 8, and I’m excited to see how the next ten months will challenge me, grow me, and ultimately shape both me and the work I’m building at @the_lesd

I’m especially grateful to Jessica and @ruweida_s for encouraging me to apply and pushing me to take this step. Sometimes, the people around you see the possibilities before you fully see them yourself. ❤️

Here’s to embracing the stretch, making room for growth, and building something meaningful along the way.

Ten months of learning, unlearning, stretching, and becoming. Let’s do this! 🥂✨

We’ve been at the 2026 Africa Food Systems Forum ! Our COO, Emmanuel Ampadu, is right now in #Kigali :)

It’s really special to be in attendance here, at one of the continent’s largest gatherings bringing together leaders and stakeholders from across Africa and globally.

It’s special not only to experience the energy of the multitude of fruitful connections, but also because we’re not just bystanders – we participate as a significant and well-experienced leader in Africa’s 21st century youth-driven Agribusiness renaissance.

Ashesi Alum, Emmanuel, attend’s not only on behalf of Pure and Just, but as a member of the Nkabom Collaborative and a valued mentor and coach within the Ashesi (student) entrepreneurship ecosystem.

The Nkabom [n-KAH-bohm] Collaborative empowers youth to lead the transformation of agri-food and nutrition systems in Ghana. Through experiential learning, community-based research, entrepreneurship and innovation, the collaborative brings together academia and industry to drive meaningful change.

When Juliann Akwele Mc-Addy watched a relative lose her first baby due to pregnancy complications, the experience stayed with her.

During a later pregnancy, her relative spent nearly five months in hospital, afraid something could go wrong again.

Juliann began exploring how fetal monitoring and reassurance could be brought closer to expectant mothers.

This led her to create MamaMonitor—a portable, low-cost fetal monitoring device designed to bring reassurance and monitoring outside clinical settings and directly into the home.

First developed as her Computer Science capstone project at @ashesi, MamaMonitor evolved through conversations with expectant mothers, maternity care providers and obstetricians, helping Juliann develop a solution that is affordable, usable and relevant to maternal care.

Through the Ashesi Health & Care Initiative, under the Africa Health Collaborative (AHC) in partnership with the @mastercardfoundation, Juliann received coaching, mentorship, funding and healthcare expertise to move from prototype to health venture.

Today, she has engaged 400+ expectant mothers, built relationships with senior obstetricians, and submitted her regulatory application as she continues to refine the business model.

When Ruby Adjetey was crossing the road with her child, a garbage truck came towards them. She acted quickly to save her child, but the truck ran over her leg, resulting in an amputation.

Losing her leg changed how Ruby moved through the world. Today, she can walk without pain with a prosthetic leg developed by Ozone Prosthetics, a Ghanaian venture using 3D printing and robotics to make personalized prosthetic care more accessible and affordable. Its solution addresses the high cost and lengthy production time of personalized prosthetics in countries like Ghana.

Through the @ashesi University Health & Care Initiative, under the Africa Health Collaborative (AHC), Ozone received coaching, mentoring, funding and technical assistance to strengthen its operations and move from prototype to patient care.

Ozone has since provided prosthetic services to 24 patients, partnered with six health facilities and employed licensed orthotists to oversee its technical operations.

For Ruby, the impact is personal: less pain, renewed confidence and the freedom to walk forward again.

At #GoldCoastTokota, learning goes beyond the classroom. We were excited to welcome students from @ashesi through @ace_ashesi for an immersive experience in sustainability, Ghanaian heritage and craftsmanship.

From discovering how discarded denim and used car tyres are transformed into durable footwear to exploring the rich history behind Ahenema and the meaning of Adinkra symbols, the students experienced how culture and innovation can work together.

Every conversation, demonstration and hands-on activity highlighted the power of circular design and responsible manufacturing.

Together, we are inspiring the next generation to preserve our heritage, protect the environment and create solutions that make a lasting impact.

https://ashesi.edu.gh/finding-growth-through-community-carol-macleans-ashesi-mba-experience/ A year into my Ashesi MBA journey, I've come to realize I'm learning just as much from my classmates as I am from the classroom.
One thing that has stayed with me: "You cannot just do things halfway. You are required to give your best."
That's the standard the Ashesi MBA has set for me, not just in the classroom, but in how I now run my business.
Here's a look at my journey so far as part of the Ashesi MBA pioneer cohort #lifeofanentrepreneur #skincarelover #sheabutterskincare #ashesi
