@acityasleep - porcelain emotional exorcism.

First of all - the thing that is so enchanting and challenging about Acityasleep is its diversity. In the EPs he has released so far, you can find classic post-punk sound, catchy darkwave beats, haunting industrial, delicate synth ballads, or echoes of 90s alternative rock.

But no matter what kind of sound he chooses to create, there is something dark-magical in his music. Listening to his music you may feel embraced by a fragile melancholy, have the feeling of being hidden under a blanket, but instead of warmth, you feel a chill. It's like being covered by rain, but you don't want to hide from it, because you enjoy the chill. You want to stay wet because you can feel more that way. There is a longing for something past, or an uncertain expectation of something unknown.

✨🧡 Oh no, love, you’re not alone 🩵✨

My cover art for @an_identity_music’s newest cover: Rock ‘n’ Roll Suicide by David Bowie!! We noticed after the video was posted that Instagram goofed up on the original colors for some reason, so I wanted to post the art myself too! I had so much fun with this piece. I’m honored that I got to be a part of this project; one, because this song has meant so much to Clinton for so many years (I’ve heard him play it on guitar for as long as I can remember), and two, because this one has a fundraiser attached! Please go check it out in @an_identity_music’s original post, it’s to raise money for suicide prevention through @iaspinfo! I really wanted to create something that represented the organization’s colors, called back to a David Bowie poster from the 70s, and most importantly, felt warm and comforting. It would mean a lot if you guys would give the cover a listen (soooo much love was poured in to it, including a badass guitar solo from @acityasleep!) and consider donating to this amazing, important cause! Let’s help our loved ones, friends, and neighbors in need 🥹💛

(Also, another resource that I really enjoy is reasonstostay.org! If you or someone you know are struggling, please reach out. You matter, you’re loved, and the world is a better place with you here!!)

NEW MUSIC, INSTAGRAM EXCLUSIVE

I haven’t been doing well. I’ve been a mess, actually. Which is why I’ve been absent here on Instagram for a while. I hope none of you think I’ve been ignoring you, life has just not been kind to me in the last few weeks.

Suicide prevention is a particularly personal and important topic for me. I have history with it. Suicidal ideation has tried to take me before. It tried again just last week.

David Bowie is also, to me, the most important artist of all time. His music saved my life several times. This song has been a gift in my life more times than I can say. That’s why I want to share that gift with you. Maybe you’ll need it in the moment you hear it. It’s the least I can do for a community that has shown me such love.

Covering not only Bowie, but THIS Bowie song, was daunting. I had no idea where to start. I knew I needed help, but asking for help is very hard for me to do (in art and in life). Then the perfect person to ask came to mind. @acityasleep and I recently worked together on our track Kill The Light, and he’d told me after how he wanted to collaborate with more people, particularly helping with guitar. That was conveniently exactly what I wanted: a powerful guitar solo. The original does not have one, so it would not be easy.

He knocked it out of the park. I could not possibly be happier with it; he sent it over and all I had to do was drop it in the tracks and adjust volume to taste. Thank you, @acityasleep, for helping me hopefully help people feel less alone.

Lastly, if you or someone you know are struggling with your mental health or have been impacted by suicide, the International Association for Suicide Prevention @iaspinfo is there for you. They have resources I hope you will consider.

THIS FRIDAY @thenotoriouslyambiguous drops a compilation, and it will feature a collab from @thewristcutter and I! A while back TWC released this killer song and I took a stab at putting some of my own flavors on it. I kept it quiet, but what better time than now to let it into the world for the EVOLUTION!

I get asked that question sometimes, with my handful of Instagrams and sometimes relentless posts about releases. Art is an extremely important outlet for me. I can let it get personal, real, devastating. Or at times just a way to get a laugh over the dumb shit, and sometimes to release anger in a constructive way.

The answer is one band, yet 5 or more projects that I cycle through on my own. Making tunes is something I prefer to do on my own, to actualize my vision, or with family that I trust to take my ideas and hard work, and make them even more complete and gnarly than they began.

Most large of a THANK YOU to the folks who blindly follow my musical antics each time one pops up. I am forever appreciative of the support I've hopefully earned 🖤

Today is the day: the single I had the absolute privilege of working with @acityasleep on, Kill The Light, is all yours. Available on all platforms now, but the full release featuring 12 remixes available only on @thenotoriouslyambiguous’s Bandcamp.

Kill The Light started as a gorgeous instrumental sent to me by @acityasleep. He asked if I wanted to write lyrics and provide vocals, and considering I absolutely admire and adore his work, I said yes with zero hesitation. The lyrics came naturally in response to his breathtaking instrumental, and the vocals quickly followed.

I hope you love this track as much as we loved working on it together.
