🌰 Encounter (Deutsch weiter unten)

„What do you have there?“
„Those are rosehips.“
„Can you eat them?“
„Yes. Would you like one?“
„YEAaaah! I’m huuuungry!“

This is a collaboration with Jody from @acornwhimsy, a fantastic photographer and acorn-figure artist. He crafts everything out of acorns and other natural materials—like this amazing dragon! He makes all kinds of animals and even objects. His acorn figures go on trips, ride in boats, compete in the Olympic Games, play music, or dive with turtles and sharks.
I would love for our figures to meet in person someday and to be able to chat with Jody face-to-face, but America and Germany are just too far apart. So, I had the idea that our figures could meet in a collage, at least. Jody loved the idea too, and here is their first encounter! Jody sent me the photo of his dragon, and I edited Lumi and Kori into the scene using Photoshop (without AI). I hope you enjoy this project as much as I do! I look forward to more!

🌰 Begegnung

„Was habt ihr da?“
„Das sind Hagebutten“
„Kann man die Essen?“
„Ja. Möchtest du eine?“
„JAAaaa!

On our 'Celebrating Senior Shutterbugs' Facebook Group, Jody Hildreth, posting as Acorn Whimsy (@acornwhimsy), shared this charming photo with the following caption:

"I recently retired after being an elementary librarian for 30 years. I now devote much of my time to photography. While I love to shoot wildlife and landscapes, my passion is my Acorn Whimsy characters. I build all figures myself using acorns and natural materials, then pose them out in nature.

This week, I have been having a blast enticing our local birds to interact with the acorns. Here is one of my favorites—a mother reading to her baby with an unexpected eavesdropper listening over her shoulder."

What a fun and creative way to mix nature and photography. This is a great example of how you can bring a little whimsy to your work.

Twig and Kookaburra

In the heart of the forest, so wild and free,
Meet Twig, a member of the Forest Family.
So, listen closely to Twigs fun facts,
About Kookaburra and its wonderous acts.

A laughing kookaburra, is a joyous sound,
In eastern Australia, they can be found.
From Cape York to Cape Otway, their home extends,
North to south, their laugh transcends.

The kookaburra is a bird so bold,
With laughter that echoes and never grows old.
In small family groups, they love to reside,
With mothers, fathers, and relatives beside.

With a chuckle and a cackle that fills the air,
In open forests, you’ll find them there.
Sclerophyll woodlands, they love to roam.
Or in wetland and gardens, they make their home.

Legend say they were sent from above,
To wake people and animals with laughter and love.
With a laugh that rings out, like a joyous surprise,
They greet each new day, under clear morning skies.

Mice and rats, beware of their might,
For kookaburra hunts them day and night.
Even snakes feel a shiver down their spine,
When this brave bird decides to dine.

So, let’s thank dear Twig, for the knowledge he brings,
About kookaburra’s quirks, and the laughter it sings.
In the Forest Family’s world, where wonders abide,
With Twig and kookaburra, laughing side-by-side.
