Day Two — ACTAI Bali 🇮🇩

Our first full day of ACTAI Bali was the perfect balance of work and play. From morning yoga and tech talks with industry leaders, to afternoon surf sessions and sound healing.

Our community came together over dinner — sharing stories from the day, exchanging ideas, and connecting over a traditional balinese meal.

Day 1 of our first in-person Future Caribbean x Claw Camp Builder Workshop in Barbados! 🇧🇧

Founders, developers, students, and innovators came together to explore agentic AI, build ideas, form teams, and connect with a growing community of Caribbean builders.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us, ClawCamp, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) for hosting us, and Tap In for supporting our online community and all of our wonderful partners for their support!

Five months ago, an MRI told me something my body already knew. What I thought was a skiing injury turned out to be a partial ACL tear, built from years of pushing hard, not one wipeout.

The PRP shot is working, but the deal is I slow down, rest, and actually listen to my body instead of overriding it.

Humbling part: last year at this place @kswaveco I was chasing barrels and sizing down my board every session. This year I’m on an intermediate wave on a big ass foamy, taking baby steps, working my cross steps, and having a blast just being on a board again. Which incase anyone forgot, is what I’ve dedicated my life to.

Years as an athlete teach you this moment. You’ve been hurt before. You know the process. Train smart, do the PT, lean on good doctors and nutrition, and trust that strength comes back.

I’m still riding a full stoke high off these baby waves too, because the best surfer out there is the one having the most fun (riding a foamy on my belly is always a blast). Add in the contact high from this crew, swapping stories about what everyone’s building outside of surfing, and that’s the real flow state. Rare group, rare experience.

Now I’m using these waves to prep for ACTAI Bali, July 29 to August 2. Warm water, easy lineups, best community in venture and Watersports. A few spots left, so ping me if you want in.

I’m still beaming from my first barrel.

After the jet ski picked me up and pulled me back to the lineup, one of the first things I did was look up at the sky, cup my hands together, and say out loud, “Thank you, God.”

That’s not something I typically say.

So why does surfing so often feel like a religious experience? That’s not just me, a lot of surfers speak about the sport that way.

In his book West of Jesus, @stevenkotler explores spirituality through the lens of surfing. He argues that profound spiritual experiences often share three ingredients:

1. Connection to something greater than yourself. Out in the water, you’re not just in nature, you’re drenched in it, collaborating with it.

2. A sense of mysticism. Something happens that feels impossible to fully explain with logic.

3. The absence of self. Your inner dialogue disappears. There is no past, no future only complete presence with the task at hand.

Surfing has the first and third in abundance.

Those few seconds inside the barrel felt unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. The sound is both loud and quiet at the same time, a strange, hollow roar. Time slows. Thought disappears.

For a brief moment, I wasn’t thinking about my life.

I was simply part of it.

I think this is why so many surfers describe surfing as more than a sport, but something sacred.

We spend so much of our lives separated from the world by our thoughts. Then, for a fleeting moment, the wave dissolves that separation.

I’ll never forget it.

Getting to surf @kswaveco was epic even though I didn’t make it out of the barrel lol but the true highlight was getting this little legend out there catching her first wave! Seeing her light up and want to surf all day to the point where she was completely sunburnt made it so worth it. What a treat! Mahalo to @actaiventures @amandaterry @kitevc for an experience that will forever be ingrained in my head 💕
