May was packed with celebrations! Kicked off the month celebrating my favorite law students in graduation parties and celebrations, took my aunts to Hawaii for Mother’s Day, spent time at Disney with my nieces, saw my baby cousin graduate high school, hosted an author talk, and wrapped up the month with my NAACP family by hosting a Candidate Forum. See you in June!

It’s Fine Art Friday🎨✨ and last week at Created2Create x @ccpcspetworth, our young creatives explored something REAL: “Wearing Many Hats vs. Knowing When to Take One Off.” 🎭👑🧢 Before the paint, affirmations, and creativity even started, we kicked things off with a simple stand-up activity: “Stand up if you love pizza.” 🍕 “Stand up if you’ve stayed up past your bedtime.” 😂 “Stand up if you’ve laughed so hard your stomach hurt.” 🤣 At first, it felt fun and light… but then the conversation shifted. What roles feel EASY to carry? What roles feel HEAVY? When does being “the strong one,” “the funny one,” “the smart one,” or “the responsible one” become too much? This session became bigger than hats. With vocalist and creative @aprileudora, holistic wellness practitioner @neeknil, and clinical facilitator @bonjour770, students reflected on identity, expectations, pressure, and permission, while designing custom hats and crowns that represented WHO they are beyond what the world asks them to be 🖤✨ The affirmations were LIT, as the students added words to live by directly onto their hats: “Powerful.” “Chosen” “QUEEN” “I am Cool” Then we asked them: “What is your value worth?” Some said priceless 💎 Some said “more than Gucci” and gave themselves a value of “23K and up!” 😅💰 But the biggest lesson is that YOUR VALUE DOESN’T DECREASE JUST BECAUSE YOU’RE TIRED. 👏🏽 You don’t have to wear every hat all the time. It’s okay to rest, it’s okay to ask for help, and it’s okay to take a hat off without losing who you are. Because sometimes healing looks like creativity… and sometimes growth looks like realizing you don’t have to do EVERYTHING alone ❤️‍🔥🎨 CREATE. HEAL. BECOME. Now tell us below 👇🏽 What’s one “hat” you’ve had to learn to take off lately? #FineArtFriday #Created2Create #CreativeWellness #YouthEmpowerment #ArtTherapyMatters

Wellness WINSday 🧠✨🎨 This past Saturday’s Soulful Saturdays: Mother’s Day Edition was one for the books! 🌸💐 Huge shoutout to our incredible facilitators @core_therapyandhealing + @creativemarkz for guiding us through a powerful journey of contrast through art + healing. We explored the highs & lows, light & dark, joy & grief, pressure & peace, and how creativity can help us process, reflect, and cope through every season of life. 🖤🤍 One of the most beautiful parts? Seeing the room filled with mother/daughter duos, mother/son moments, family cameos, chosen family, and genuine community connection 🫶🏽 Shoutout to our special guests @tk_speaks, @seetonesmile, @shaunpro_ + @noyawins of Every Day is @winsday365 for pulling up, dropping gems, and vibing with the crew all afternoon 💫 Big love as well to @iamkellyroxanne + @kellyscavella for sliding thru and showing love 💐 And whew… @lemonade_dream CLOSED the session with soul-stirring poetry that had the room FEELING every word 🎤🔥 We also had wellness giveaways courtesy of @men_to_heal + @core_therapyandhealing because healing should feel supported, intentional, and accessible 🙏🏽✨ These sessions are more than workshops. They’re spaces to breathe. Reflect. Create. Heal. Connect. 🎨🧠💭 If you missed this one, don’t worry… Session 3 is loading for May 30th 👀 Details dropping soon. Trust us, you’re gonna want to be in the building! Stay tuned for OFFICIAL content, courtesy of @jazzakuru 📸🎥 & tag somebody you want to experience the next session with 💫👇🏽 🌸 Presented by Artbae in partnership with Kappa Foundation of Fort Washington @kffworg + PG Parks & Recreation @pgparks #SoulfulSaturdays #WellnessWINSday #CreateHealBecome #BlackWellness #DMVEvents
