At ACU, our on-campus Master of Marriage and Family Therapy students don’t have to wonder where they’ll complete the supervised clinical hours required for licensure. It all happens right here at our on-site Marriage and Family Institute.

Let’s explore the spaces where students receive a stair-stepped introduction to therapy while serving real clients. 💜

✨ The Nemec Family
Your generosity helps ensure that grieving families know they are supported and that their little ones are remembered.

✨ Trace & Robyn George
By choosing to sponsor, you have come alongside families in their grief and helped us create a community of remembrance and hope.

💜 To each of our Friend of the Walk Sponsors: thank you for helping us honor the tiniest lives and remind families that they are not alone. 🌿✨

Our on-campus Marriage & Family Therapy graduate students completed a Mental Health First Aid training! ⛑️

Like CPR for mental health, this training equips them with tools to de-escalate crises, offer initial support, and connect people with the help they need.

These skills enrich both their professional practice and personal lives!

Howdy Y’all! Justin here, back once more for part 4/8 of my road sign series. ONE WAY signs serve an important function on our roadways as they prevent dangerous head-on collisions. Below, we will see what we can learn from ONE WAY signs.

ONE WAY signs direct traffic to flow in only one direction. Initially, we might interpret that in our professional or personal relationships there are times when we can only go one direction. As in, when one person’s ‘relational needs’ demand fulfilling. This first interpretation allows people to communicate relational needs and in turn force people to fulfil those needs. That understanding of ONE WAY doesn’t quite sit right with me for one reason: drivers do not decide where ONE WAY signs go, road designers decide where ONE WAY signs go. In marriage, each spouse does not decide their own needs in isolation. Instead, the consensus of the married couple decides on both needs jointly. In business, each party does not decide their own needs in isolation. Instead, each party negotiates a contract. The contract dictates the needs and the fulfilment of those needs. All such relational needs require both sides to appeal to a higher authority, the relationship itself.
That greater authority can come from religious inspiration, common business practices, or family traditions, but at the end of the day nobody can put two opposing ONE WAY signs on the same street without causing accidents. If you do not share the same set of values in any given relationship, take the time to note the ONE WAY signs as joint designers, rather than individual drivers.
