909 DAY HAS ALWAYS BEEN HERE.

Before 909 Day became what it is today, there was DIY Fest at The Vibe in Riverside. That was the beginning of the vision. Then we took that same energy and brought it to @theglasshousepomona in Pomona on September 9th, 2015 — 9/09 on an even bigger scale.

909 Day has always existed, just in different forms. This was one of those moments where we saw what could happen when we really believed in the vision, didn’t take no for an answer, and just kept going.
Shoutout to EVERYONE who helped make this happen. Looking back at these moments is truly beautiful because it reminds me of what we can create when we come together and really put our hearts into it.
And now we’re here, building 909 Day at an even higher level, always trying to figure out how to create something beautiful for our scene and our community.
Can’t wait for 909 Day, y’all.

September 9th. 9/09. 🏁❤️

This is the first era of Common Ground back when we weren’t booking headliners yet, just doing $1 and $5 shows, filming on a little blue JVC camcorder.

The artists’ names are totally different now, the evolution has been beautiful. But looking back at this raw era. it was all about learning, doing without overanalyzing, putting in sweat equity, and building the foundation. Truly special to see how far we’ve come.

Tomorrow, I’m re-releasing Granny Said on my grandmother’s birthday. When I first dropped this project, she was here to receive her flowers, and that was the whole point to celebrate her while she could still smell them. A big rollout just doesn’t feel right without her, but I still want to do something special.

I just want to share the music and enjoy it. There are some dope voicemails from her in here, too. Granny Said re-releasing tomorrow.

@thopfest is great in a unique way each time for me – in 2019 I battled my way into a performance slot, in years since I came and enjoyed the festival and in 2023 I premiered the @untappedhiphop IE docu-series, vended and battled on the main stage.

I wish I took more pics with people, particularly at the documentary premiere at the Festival Launch party where a pretty amazing group of friends, fam and loved ones came to support and see what D, @valdivia83 and I have been working on for all these years.

The festival itself was great, my fave food was the @biteclubsliders and catfish, was too hot to drink much but I enjoyed my margarita. Oh- and big shoutout to @everlasting.barbers for the on-site beard trim!

I joined the freestyle competition in the few days before the festival and had no idea who I would face. Second to last clip here is from that, where I lost in round 2 to the homie and major character in the film I just premiered with Untapped Media, @gilead7 - we’ve beaten each other in several tournaments over the years and this was a good warmup (and wakeup, ha) for my SBRC title defense in December.

My favorite sets were Tunnel Rats @zanemarie @daxreynosa @shamesworthy @prophiphop @sojournalist @yourmom_bro @blimesandgab @vivamescal @prettyblaqofficial @ayesincere & @eugene_oneil_ and the best part as always is catching up with the all the So Cal indie hip-hop homies from San Diego, LA, OC and IE.

As ever huge thanks to @platformcollection @bricktoyaface
@60east909 + @firewatervenue for throwing the fest!
