Here’s a recap for you, if you’re interested 🤷🏻‍♀️

Loved this boulder. A really cool mix of risk and coordination. Both jumps took some time to learn. When I finally got the boulder it felt so easy and I looked down to see I was standing on a purple hold. The repeat took 4 or 5 more attempts.

This was v7 #2 of the session as I look to get my final 5 7s to reach the 2025 goal of 100.

Absolute sickness. The top kept me from getting this sooner, and I almost dropped it again here. Glad I was able to salvage it and put this one down.

Sick little boulder from @adam.kmight. I was surprised to find that my crux was the foot swap on a weird chip. I dropped every single move during my learning process from start to finish. Chuffed to string it together in a single session.

Absolutely sick one set by @adam.kmight. Loved learning this first move and found the second half to be quite challenging as well. First send was a bit messy on the feet so I repeated the climb on another visit to clean it up. Swear I didnt dab the yellow at the finish: I was stepping above it on the volume.

Physical Preparation for Slab Climbing//

Most people probably think of slab as predominantly technical. Like all climbing, however, there are a variety of physical characteristics that can influence an athlete’s readiness for difficult slab climbing.

Proprioceptive awareness, lower body strength, and mobility are all key to unlocking more challenging slab movements.

Proprioception and Coordination 💥💥
-
Athletes should practice slow head movements and a lingering gaze. Identifying and focusing on the most important visual target will create a reference point for stable, effective movement.

Lower Body Strength 💥💥
-
Many climbers are partial to single leg movements like the pistol squat. While these movements are completely fine, some people will find that they are difficult to perform properly and difficult to load heavily. For athletes who cannot perform the pistol squat with a strong upright position, front loaded squatting movements are an excellent supplementary tool.

//novice recommendation//
• KB Goblet Squat 2-4x8-12 w/ a pause

//experienced recommendation//
• Barbell Front Squat 4-6x2-4
*Upper body mobility may be a limiter
• Double KB Front Squat 3-5x6-8
*Requires less upper body mobility

Mobility and Flexibility 💥💥
-
Front loaded squatting will support the development of deep hip and knee flexion, ankle dorsiflexion, as well as extension of the thoracic spine, but this may not be enough for everyone. Simple mobility drills can go a long way to support additional training as needed.

//Slant Board Marching//
Athletes will alternate their steps, pressing one heel down onto the incline at a time. This should be done for 30s-45s at a time, without rushing the reps. The angle of incline should be comfortable but create a gentle stretch at the bottom of each step.

//Tim Anderson OS Rocking Drills//
Beginning in a quadruped position with knees resting on a soft surface and toes down(dorsiflexed ankle), the athlete will rock forward and backward, gently stretching into each end of the rock. This can be done as a standalone exercise or as a superset with squatting and overhead pressing movements. Suggested rep scheme 3x20-30
