Ausangate, 2023.

“Chase Regrets was born out of a desire to justify bad decisions that turned into epic adventures.”

In 2023, Adam and I set out on an adventure of a lifetime, crossing from Bolivia to Cusco through the Andes. Over 35 days, we saw a lot, experienced a lot, and probably made more than a few questionable decisions along the way.

The trip ended abruptly when Adam crashed and broke his wrist at 16,500 ft in the Ausangate area, just moments after I took this first photograph.

Ever since, we’ve wanted to go back and finish what we started. Just without the bikes this time. As we learned, some parts of the Andes are better explored on foot.

It’s been almost three years since that trip.

We’re ready to go back.

¡Lo logramos! Nos vamos a la Cineteca Nacional. 🇲🇽

We did it! We’re heading to the Cineteca Nacional. 🇲🇽

From the very beginning, we dreamed that the Mexico City premiere of *Zelzin: Huellas que Inspiran* (Zelzin: Inspiring Footprints) would take place in a truly special venue.

We wanted a screen that would hold memories for Zelzin and her family—a place that was part of her story and would make bringing this film home even more meaningful.

And we’ve made it happen. ❤️

On September 7th, our story arrives at the Cineteca Nacional in Mexico City.

After so many kilometers, years of adventures, and sharing this story in so many different places, coming home to see it on this screen will be a moment we’ll never forget.

We would love for you to be part of this special day.
Come to our premiere and meet Zelzin and the crew who made this documentary possible.

This set is from a very specific moment of the trip - the day we finally got to ride an original section of the Qhapaq Ñan, the ancient Inca Trail.

The day started in Ananea, a mining town near La Rinconada, the highest permanent settlement in the world at over 16,700 ft. Needless to say, neither of us slept particularly well.

We spent the morning battling a relentless headwind before making a turn and crossing an active mining site. Strange looks followed us everywhere. Eventually, we hopped a few fences and began descending into a valley that revealed exactly what we'd been hoping to find: the Inca Trail stretching across the landscape below.

We camped at a viewpoint overlooking the valley, and by sunrise the entire scene was swallowed by freezing fog.

On our way out, we met a local farmer on his daily walk. We chatted for a while, and he kindly pointed us toward the trail and showed us the way through.

With our highly questionable mountain biking skills, we somehow managed to ride the ancient path without crashing.

By the end of the day, we rolled into Cuyo Cuyo. A few hours later I got sick and ended up stuck there for three days.

Looking back, it was one of the most memorable stretches of the entire expedition.

This photo ended up becoming the cover image of our film.

I think this was taken on day three of the trip, somewhere around 16,000 ft, long before we were properly acclimated to the altitude. We called this stretch "the moon riding section" because of the strange mountain formations on the horizon and the dark volcanic soil beneath our tires. It felt like riding through another planet.

Swipe to see the raw file and the final edit.

Pro Tip:

When I took this shot, I intentionally underexposed it to preserve the drama in the clouds. Recovering detail from the shadows is usually much easier than trying to bring back blown-out highlights.
