ARTIFACT 01 occupies that sweet spot of large enough for a serious plant yet small enough to display on a table. The plant is a dichotomous (double trunk) Zamia furfuracea (cycad). Highly adaptable to light and water schedules they make excellent indoor plants.

APOLLO II planted with a branching Aloe plicatilis, a quirky little plant found growing on rocky slopes along the cape of South Africa. It tends to bonsai itself into interesting shapes. The super minimal Apollo planter was designed specifically to allow the plant to be the star. Pedestal and planter combined into one.

ARTIFACT 02 planted with Licuala grandis, a particularly prized palm. My parents have been growing them in containers in the back parts of the garden (slide 2). My sister for scale.

Home for the weekend celebrating Dad’s 75th. Lunch in Key Largo and time spent in the garden. Simple pleasures.

The goal was to design containers with enough presence that they stand on their own — unplanted, they’re already sculpture. Planted, they become something else entirely.

What I love most is seeing which plants various clients choose, making each one their own.

Not for nothing, Gardenias would be gorgeous here - an unexpected but lovely contrast to the severity of the structures.
