We’re delighted to announce that the Chicago Sukkah Design Festival (CSDF) returns for its 5th edition, opening SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 27 and running through October 19! Link in bio for full schedule of 2026 public programs.

CSDF brings together neighbors, community organizations, designers, artists, students, and faith leaders to co-create sukkahs—structures inspired by Jewish tradition—reimagined as places of belonging, solidarity, and hope. CSDF models how interfaith and intercultural collaboration can transform contested histories into shared futures. By anchoring the sukkahs in ongoing neighborhood use, we aspire to cultivate living monuments to resilience: ‘third spaces’ that celebrate our collective humanity, and offer sanctuary for reflection, dialogue, and action toward a more just and compassionate world.

During CSDF, the landscape of unique sukkah structures is open daily to the public and activated with programming. After CSDF, each sukkah is relocated and re-installed at the organizations that co-designed them as permanent program spaces, including as an outdoor exercise station, drum circle oasis, nature play pavilion, and teen hang-out hut.

In my research on different ways to conceptualise ‘knitting together’ a map of London, I found these beautiful art pieces. There are different ways that we could build the structure of the map and I thought that these were good starting ideas. Everyone will be working on their own swatches and after we will put them together to create a map of our London (whether it looks like a map or not…we will see).

Inspiration for individual swatches will come in a following post / will explain more at the event. But this could be anything, from collage, weaving to knitted/crochet swatches! I’d like to emphasise, that there is no knitting or even crafting experience needed!!

Swipe through to see the different examples and sourced materials. There are many interesting ways that the collaborative tapestry / map creation will turn out. This is extremely experimental (emphasis on the experimental).

For anyone registering, thank you for trusting the process. You will receive more inspiration and resources to prepare for Tuesday’s session.

I am very excited to see what will come of the sessions!

side note - these images were sourced online and I tried my best to find the image owners but some I couldn’t find. Please tag if this is your photo.

Went out with Charlie ( @adaptive_operations ) and Gibran ( @thegibran ) for a very unexpectedly musical and comically surreal night watching Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me and staying for the Q&A with Ray Wise ( @therealraywise ) at the Music Box ( @musicboxchicago ).

David Lynch’s casting of him was genius (with an equally funny story), he’s forever Leland Palmer to me, but also just one of those actors who makes everything better — sharp, funny, wildly talented, and apparently capable of a very solid David Lynch impression.

The cherry on top was getting to meet someone who was also Commissioner Gordon in Batman: The Killing Joke, which made my inner comic-nerd extremely happy as is my favorite Comic Book Story. What a night. ☕️🌲🦉
