Some of my dancers had the opportunity to perform at the Future Stages Festival at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts in Kansas City in June. @kauffmancenter @saintlukeskc

While I was the primary choreographer of this 20-minute piece, this was truly a collaborative work. Every dancer was given opportunities to improvise, and several even choreographed their own sections.

I’ve had the vision for this piece in my head for months, and I knew it was a message that needed to be shared. The message centers around love, equality, community, and unity. It addresses issues that continue to affect our world every day—sexism, racism, discrimination, and injustice.

The piece begins in a place of sadness and grief, reflecting how many of us feel about the state of the world and the struggles that have existed for far too long. It then transitions through themes of women’s rights, African American rights, and immigrant rights before ultimately ending in a place of unity, celebration, and love.
Love is stronger than hate❤️
