From confinement to freedom—Simon’s new backyard! 🐾❤️

Simon came to us after spending almost 24/7 in a crate, with little freedom and painful skin issues. His owner wanted to do better, and Claudia stepped in to help get him the veterinary care he needed. Project Safe Pet, Halfway There, and Worthy Dog Rescue split the bill for his extensive skin treatment.

He also got toys, bones, a bed, and a gate blocking the hallway so he could safely have more freedom inside the house.

But what Simon really needed was room to run.

So four women spent three hours building him a backyard fence using donated pen panels and T-posts, with the house serving as one side of his enclosure. 💪❤️

This gives Simon an entire backyard to enjoy while keeping him connected to his family. Dogs are social animals, and this setup gives him freedom without isolating him from the people he loves.

We can’t rescue every dog—but we can help change the lives of dogs already in homes by giving their families the resources, support, and knowledge they need. #spayandneuteryourpets #dogs

The old saying “You can’t judge a book by it’s cover” Is very much like profiling, something that sadly is done with pit and pit mixes all the time.

Years ago, a dog named Chance changed my life forever.

I found him wandering alone through the woods behind our Florida townhouse—exhausted, foaming at the mouth, and ready to collapse. I knew nothing about dogs and had never rescued one. I only knew he needed help.

That evening, I brought him food and water and coaxed him onto our screened porch. My husband looked at him and said, “That’s a pit bull.”

I asked, “What’s a pit bull?”

He explained that some people used them for fighting. I didn’t see a fighting dog. I saw an exhausted dog who needed help.

The next day, I started calling rescues and was horrified to learn that because of his breed, Chance could be at risk of euthanasia if he went to animal control. He was a sweet amazing dog and that is all that mattered.

With help from a few amazing neighbors, we got him veterinary care. He was heartworm positive, but he was safe. I fostered him in my townhouse with my four cats until the realtor who had helped with his vet bills offered to take over his foster care.

Of course, she fell in love with him, and Chance found his forever home.

Chance taught me to look beyond the label and see the loving dog underneath. He opened my eyes to rescue, animal welfare, and the need to advocate for humane treatment.

It all started with one exhausted pit bull named Chance. 🐾

Shout out to @billies_buddies ! Three weeks ago, Chester Animal Control received a call about nine puppies and their mama. The puppies were only 8 weeks old.

The hard truth? A family this large is almost impossible to place right now. We reached out to 10+ rescues, but everyone was full.

We knew we had to divide and conquer before the puppies began to age out and became even harder to rescue. Then came more heartbreaking news—one of the six remaining puppies had gone missing and still hasn’t been found.

Thankfully, a rescue in Greenville took three puppies. Billie’s Buddies then stepped up, and with the help of temporary fosters, three more were bathed, vetted, and brought to safety.

Two puppies are still looking for rescue, but they are safe indoors.

Now it’s Mom’s turn.

She is wonderful with people, lives with children, and is said to be dog-friendly. Sadly, she was recently attacked by a neighbor’s dog—a harsh reality for chained dogs. She’ll be spayed Tuesday, and her wounds will be treated.

If you can foster or adopt this sweet girl, please reach out.

This is what rescue looks like. Countless phone calls, networking, partner rescues, fosters, transport, and volunteers refusing to give up.

Rescues are drowning, but teamwork saves lives. ❤️🐾
