As cute as the baby animals are @adoptapetsj (and as good as our shelter employees are at convincing you to take them home!), we need to get a better handle on the population born as strays in San José. That’s why this week I was excited to help announce the expansion of our Trap, Neuter and Release (TNR) program from 2 days per week to 4 days per week — with a plan to add one more additional day by the end of the year. Every litter we prevent means fewer cats entering our busy shelter and more time and resources to care for the animals already looking for their forever homes.

P.S. @walkswithsilvia, they named this puppy after me…what do you think about having 2 mayors in the house? 🫣

Today we participated in One Team, One City, One Community, hosted by the CMO’s office. Our team helped the San Jose Animal Care Center with goodie bags for PAWtober.

This October, skip the tricks and fall for a shelter pet! From Oct. 3 through Oct. 31, you can name your adoption fee for available dogs, black kittens, adult cats, and small pets.

That means more ways to find your perfect match and bring home a new best friend this spooky season. Whether you have been dreaming of a dog to go on adventures with, a cat to curl up with on chilly fall nights, or a small animal to add a little more personality to your home, your next companion could be waiting for you at our shelter.

Ready to find your PAWtober match? Browse adoptable pets before you visit our shelter at bit.ly/PetCompass.

Then meet your potential new best friend at the San Jose Animal Care Center!

📍 2750 Monterey Rd., San Jose, CA 95111

Name your adoption fee. Find your match. Fall in love.

My Saturdays are always filled with community events — but this one went to the dogs! We spent last weekend at @sj_bark_in_the_park, an annual festival supporting @humanesocietysv, @adoptapetsj, and so many other local organizations. Join us next year!
