Think of it as your queer Christmas party, minus the awkward office small talk. Expect welcome drinks, wandering through one of London’s most characterful spaces, and the kind of conversations that turn into collaborations, friendships, or something more if you really hit it off…

Had the absolute pleasure of spending the morning in great company today at the @aevencollective makers breakfast @decorex_international

It’s so rare that an opportunity presents to have so many world class, UK makers all represented in one space, no questions asked. Just pure celebration of the maker, and the ability that craft has to harmonise an interior.

@alexandriadauley , @grantpierrus and the team at Aeven have done exactly this, presenting craft from the length and breadth of the UK. The seemingly impossible task of bringing so many completely different styles of work together, and creating a cohesive, welcoming space, has been achieved so beautifully. It seems almost effortless, however in reality it is an accomplishment that should be applauded.

Personally, I’m a little overwhelmed by how wonderfully they have presented fine craft and craftsmanship to the luxury interiors community. In a world of over production, the heart,soul and stories behind a hand crafted piece add so much connection and joy to the spaces we inhabit, I’m thankful they are helping to spread the love.

‘The Shape Of Us’ is located on the exterior wall of the central bar @decorex_international , please go give it a little love if you’re visiting over the next few days, and reach out if you would like to acquire it.

I also managed to coordinate pretty well with a full fit out of archive @waxlondonclothing so thanks guys for making me feel top notch.

Incredibly proud to present ‘The shape of us’ my latest work created for @aevencollective and their presentation at this years @decorex_international, ‘A seat at the table’

‘The Shape of Us ‘ explores the concept that
identity is shaped through connection. The piece has been created to reflect on the influence of friendship, community and shared experience and how collaboration helps shape the people we become.

The interlocking forms suggest movement, exchange and individuality within a larger whole. The butterfly acts as a symbol of transformation, reinforcing the idea that growth is rarely an entirely solitary process.
At its core, the work considers how we are shaped by the people around us, and how much of who we become is formed through the relationships we build along the way.

For me, marquetry is a beautifully playful craft. I often state that any surface is an opportunity to play and ‘ The Shape of Us’ embodies this. By combining contempoary abstraction with subtle, playful elements of classical figurative marquetry, this piece demonstrates the ability marquetry has to truly personalise any space.

New week, new veneers on the bench, and it’s a healthy dose of colour for this latest commission.

I’ve been reading a lot recently how many are moving away from the traditional when choosing a palette for their home, and this bold selection backs that theory up in buckets.

Colours that shouldn’t go well side by side, in reality really look phenomenal as they sweep through the piece.

Multiple textures bring extra movement to the panel, whilst fumed chestnut and London plane ground and pull everything together.

Can’t wait to see how this all finishes up.

We had the absolute BEST night hosting the @heyjoyeuxbordel x @adornthecommon Creative Networking event at @homehouselondon last Friday.

The energy was high, connections were formed, and it’s looking like we found our new home for the upcoming editions✨
