POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

@adotnamedstud excels at miniature movie vignettes, and the builder's clean style and moody photography is perfect for tackling this climactic scene from the Odyssey as Odysseus heralds his return with his signature trick shot, needling an arrow through a row of axes heads. Having the slimiest suiter Antinous as the only face in the mass of suitors is a clever crearive choice from the builder to amplify the emotions of the moment.

WARRIORS: Into the Wild - By Erin Hunter
~

I’ve wanted to make a LEGO Warrior Cats post for a while now! Despite not engaging with the series for nearly a decade at this point, it was a huge part of my childhood and early adolescence. So when I saw @adotnamedstud made his 2000 follower contest themed around books, I saw a perfect opportunity.
I built a mini vignette of ThunderClan’s Camp, featuring a new reprint of the baby cat piece to represent Firepaw!

1Q84 | @adotnamedstud contest

Murakami's 1Q84 follows three characters who discover they may have crossed over to a parallel version of the year 1984. This book came to mind as one well suited for an entry of three 8x8 vignettes, with one from each of the protagonists' story.

“This inhuman place makes humans monsters”

This is an entry for @adotnamedstud ‘s moc contest based on books.

The Shining is one of my all time favorite books so I knew I wanted to adapt it into a build. I tried to create a vignette of a hallway from the Overlook hotel as it was described in the book, alongside a novel-accurate Jack Torrance armed with his roque mallet

I hope to do some more before the deadline but I wanted to make sure I at least got this one out there for the book scenes challenge by @adotnamedstud
-
Let the Right One In is a horror novel about a boy named Oskar who gets a new neighbor, Eli, in his apartment building - and she happens to be a vampire that's his same age. But she's been that age for a while, and her need to feed and survived has caused her to move to a new location once again. The book (and film adaptation) is a difficult but rewarding read - trigger warnings for abuse, bullying, violence, and as a whole a lot of the supporting cast is hard to actually root for as people. But there are so many sweet moments between Oskar and Eli that show they care for one another deeply...even if there may be a cost down the line.
-
What I tried to capture here is a snapshot of the two of them communicating through the shared wall of their apartments using morse code, tapping on the walls since this was the 80s and they didn't have texting. Oskar's room is full of little easter eggs - his knife, his book of news clippings about killers and crime (he'd totally have a podcast today) and of course I snuck Star Wars in there. Eli's room is stark by comparison. She doesn't have things really. And by the end of the book, she travels inside a heavy chest - and Oskar communicates with her using the same system of taps on the wood.
-
This is my first time trying to do an 8x8 contained build and of course I made it harder immediately by cutting it down the middle. I used masonry to represent the simple innards of a cinder block apartment complex. So yeah, not a complicated build but I thought the scene translated well to an intimate little space.

"Do we need the monkey?", por @adotnamedstud (Flickr)
