Creating football ⚽️ stories that inspire children

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Chosen for National Simultaneous Storytime 2026, LUNA ROO THE KANGAROO BALLER delivers a high energy story that will have you cheering like you’re in the stands.

Rookie Captain LUNA ROO leaves nothing on the pitch as she steps up to lead FC Outback in a thrilling face-off against Bush United.

A story that is heartwarming and gives an empowering message that grit, courage, determination, and teamwork are a winning combination.

TRICKSHOT HARRI THE CHEETAH WORLD BEATER is yet another great picture book for young readers in the Animal World Cup Series.

Harri is an exceptionally talented star cheetah playing soccer for Jungle FC. He scores four goals in the first half against the tough Safari Stars, believing he can win the entire match alone but when his father reminds him that there is “no I in team,” Harri laughs it off.

An engaging and positive story with a message about sharing, collaboration, and realizing that a true champion relies on everyone just not themselves.

Both books are very entertaining and illustrations by @jakemintonillustration are vibrant and bold catching the excitement of the game. Eye catching to all who love sport, animals, competition and especially soccer.

Zeke & Abby’s Picture Book Reviews!
(AD/GIFTED)
📚
Book Details:
* Title: Ready, Steady, Goal!
* Authors: Adams Jackson (@adamjacksonbooks) & Adrian Lloyd (@adrianlloyd_author)
* Illustrator: John Barrett (@3032.fc)
* ISBN: 9781923141650
* Publisher: Little Book Press
* Pub Date: 26/05/2026
* Ages: 3-7
📚
What we enjoyed about READY, STEADY, GOAL!:
* Firstly, we are suckers for rhyme, so any story that is read aloud to us (with rhyme!) is a winner in our eyes.
* Secondly, we thought it was quite clever to utilise some basic soccer terms, such as trap, turn and dribble.
* Thirdly, the illustrations were excellent. (Plus, we loved the soccer net end papers!)
* Finally, as huge soccer fans (of our own team - Blacktown Workers Soccer FC - and the two teams we barrack for, the Western Sydney Wanderers and Blacktown City FC), we think every kid needs this book on their shelves as they grow up with the beautiful game!
📚
Thank you @littlebookpress for gifting us a copy in exchange for an honest review.

What we liked about TRICKSHOT HARRI:
* Firstly, we are huge fans of rhyme, so this made for an excellent read aloud story at bedtime.
* Secondly, we are also big football fanatics, so anything soccer related (especially after the World Cup) is a hit with us.
* Thirdly, we loved how the emphasis was on the teamwork, and that Harri was able to share the ball and not always seek glory.
* Finally, we are enjoying how this series of picture books is focussing on a football position and a lesson.

I’ve been thinking a lot about the intersection between sports and reading of late.
Multiple things can be true at once.

I think we (*gestures at society in general*) sometimes silo kids into being “sporty” OR “bookish.”
When really, we can be bookworms AND jocks.

Letting a child read their interests plays a key role in this.
So if you have a football-loving reader, here are some books to check out...

We cannot believe that we have had nearly 5,000 entries 🫶🤩🤯

We did record a thank you video over the weekend but I messed up and didn’t record the audio 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

We need to spend the time going through all the amazing entries so I re-recorded as a voiceover. I’m pretty sure this what @adrianlloyd_author and @jakemintonillustration said.

Huge thanks for every single entry. I’m afraid we need a bit more time to go through them all and select the winners. We’ve pushed the date back to Friday 12 June.

Thanks again to schools, teachers, parents and every entry 👏👏
