POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

We recently hosted an Ad Rodeo at the office, and the topic of the day was AI, and how it is showing up in content. Four expert copywriters got extra cozy on the couch to spill their honest feelings about it, and here's what they had to say.

AI isn't going anywhere. So you might as well saddle up and find your own way of using it. Case in point, what happened to the folks who refused to use the internet?

Use it like an agreeable colleague that always cheers for you on the sidelines (not a ghostwriter). It shines as a thesaurus, or a way to find parallel meanings.

Never let it start your strategy. But do let it do the digging. It's great for research and industry-specific vocabulary. ("What's that cattle gate actually called again?!")

At the end of the day, if you want content that makes people feel something, a human still has to be behind the scenes crafting it. And to pour real emotion into writing, we have to actually go out and live. So get out there, watch movies, read strange, wonderful books, attend concerts, and touch a bit of grass once in a while.

Thanks to @adrodeo for this gold (and glow in the dark!) award in Best Illustration Single for my deck illustration for @orkaskateboarding.

This award is meaningful because when I draw, this is the style that comes out. So to be awarded for something that's so me, well that feels pretty good. That and I just love drawing slime. Dedicated to all my art teachers who said I drew something "too cartoony".

Now accepting all your "cartoony" projects.

Excited to announce that INTER–PHRASE has won the AdRodeo Student Illustration Anvil!

@makennadesign and I worked incredibly hard on this project all semester with support from @kelly_hartman !

This is a bit late as I was away in Vancouver for DesignThinkers and missed the ceremony (thanks Makenna for representing us) but I'd like to add a few words here on Instagram and thank @randmcollective for the support as my illustration professor this semester who helped me get through creating all the illustrations in this magazine (excluding Makenna's wonderful feature article).

Working on such a large, illustration heavy project this semester was a huge challenge but it reignited my confidence as an illustrator!

Additional thanks to @naoko_masuda for support in reading my writing for the magazine throughout the semester and helping me set a clearer tone and direction in my feature article and @winelson.s for illustration help in taking reference photos and providing helpful anatomy suggestions!!

Okay almost done but one last special thanks to Winelson and Makenna for participating in my last minute photoshoot and modelling to help bring INTER–PHRASE to life.

Thank you again Makenna, Kelly, Mike, Naoko, Winelson, and all my Editorial and Illustration class peers for all the support and encouragement throughout this project! 💖

...and thanks to anyone who read to the end of this very long caption

Let the Games Begin 🎮🔥

Last night at Creative Differences by @dtalks_calgary × @adrodeo

Two teams. Six creatives.
A live game where the crowd was part of it.
Fast, loud, and full of energy.

We played, laughed, and connected for real.

As a graphic designer, I loved seeing design thinking in action, not just talked about, but happening live.

Big thanks to @the.mofiyin , @shannonlanigan and the team, and @cabinbrewing for the vibe.
