Healthy soil supports healthy plants and healthy plants build healthy soil —and that means creating the right environment for microbiology to thrive. Here are 5 steps I take to prepare my established raised beds for fall planting: 1. Remove weeds while minimizing soil disturbance to protect soil structure and microbial habitats. 2. Add finished compost. I one of these or a combination: vermicompost, leaf mold compost, and static compost. They add beneficial microbes, organic matter and nutrients. 3. Gently loosen the soil with a spading fork rather than turning it over. 4. Apply biostimulants and microbial inoculants (recommended but optional). This is a product combination from @advancingecoag that I’ve incorporated into my soil management practices. AEA (Advancing Eco Agriculture) focuses on regenerative agriculture, plant nutrition, and improving soil and plant health through biological processes. I love their products and there is a great amount of info on their website. The goal is to stimulate microbial activity and support microbial processes such as nutrient cycling, disease suppression, and increased nutrient content of your produce. I particularly like applying Soil Primer in the fall, when I’m preparing beds for the next growing season. 5. Finish with a layer of unfinished leaf mold to help conserve moisture, protect the soil surface, and provide organic material for decomposers, especially fungi. The goal isn’t simply to add nutrients. It’s to create a functioning soil ecosystem that supports healthy plants. #gardeninspiration #gardenscience #agroecology #raisedbedgarden

I was thinking of removing this problem clump for awhile, but thought I would wait and see what Pinion and nutrient foliars could do for it. Glad I did! 🍌 TLDW - I applied three foliars of Pinion, MacroPak and MicroPak from @advancingecoag and top dressed with compost in the spring 👍 Comment “rates” and I’ll DM you the 0.25 acre rates I use for a four gallon sprayer. ** I’m an employee of the company that makes these products, and a happy customer 😊 #pinion #macropak #micropak #foliarfeeding #floridafarm

If you’ve ever juggled 4-5 jugs (or more), you’ll appreciate custom blends! AEA Custom Blends are made for your crop based on the crop growth stage and nutrient uptake info that we get from sap tests, along with water and soil tests, and field observations. This is how our agronomists make precision nutrient management easier and more cost-effective for farmers. Apply only the nutrients that the crop needs, at the time that they make the biggest impact on yield and quality. Without the mixing and measuring! If you want to learn more, please click the link in bio or send us a DM to get in touch! 👋 #precisionagriculture #precisionag #nutrientmanagement #cropnutrition #agriculture

Here, I am preparing a benificial and bioactive foliar spray mix for the following day. Preblending the products in concentration, and letting them sit for 12 hours. (Some r&d studies are showing extra beneficial effect and plant health response from preblending, letting sitting for hours, then application to leaf tissue ) The mix🍵 ●MacroPak: 🟢 2-2-2 all-purpose macronutrient blend. Derived from corn steep liquor, calcium silicate , magnesium sulfate, and kelp extract. (Potassium hydroxide) 1.5% water soluable nitrogen 0.5% insoluble nitrogen ●Molasses:🟤 paired with a low dose of nutrients in foliar applications Molasses acts like jet fuel, superchargering the photosyntehctic engine which is leaf 🍃 For a short duration, this supercharged engine can help recover and gain vitality and (re)Kickstart, recover and , and promote good health. ●Jadam wetting agent🟡- Potassium hydroxide+ canola oil. A basic home made liquid soap, suitable for use on dirty dishes, along with being safe to use on our skin and hair when we bathe. This wetting agent helps provide a sticking and spreading effect, enveloping and throughly coating the leaf, ensuring even distribution of the product. ●Pinon: 🟣enhances vitality with three interconnected mechanisms. Redox modulation, microbiome optimization, and immune pathway activation This results in Enhanced Photosynthetic Performance⚙️☀️🍃 ●soft water filter🔵 just 4" pvc with ion exchange resin. This does not strip everything out of the water, just the harder harsher elements. Good water is crucial for an effective foliar application. 💚🌐💚🌏💚 Macropack and Pinon are products of Advancing Eco Agricultural.

This is a bigger topic than one reel can cover, so I’m working on a full deep-dive for YouTube, including my own water and soil test results. Drop your questions below and I’ll try to answer them in the upcoming YouTube video! As I mentioned, your tap water is made safe for you, not necessarily for your soil. Chlorine or chloramine, hard alkaline water, and salts all add up over time, especially in pots. My city uses chlorine — so letting water sit for 24 hours releases the chlorine as a gas — but many cities use chloramine, which doesn’t gas off. Where to find the products mentioned in this reel: VITAMIN C: pure ascorbic acid powder from the grocery canning aisle, a pharmacy, or a homebrew supply store. About ⅛ tsp treats 10 gallons. Skip fruit-protector blends with added sugar. Vitamin C hose filters are at garden centers and online. HOSE FILTERS: you can source these online or at a garden store. I like Boogie Blue (basic) for handling chlorine. You’ll need the Boogie Blue Plus if you have chlorine and chloramine. FULVIC ACID: your worm bin! Worm castings and castings tea naturally contain humic substances, including fulvic acids. So do compost and leaf mold. Bottled fulvic acid is at garden centers and hydroponic stores. Look for OMRI Listed. KELP: liquid kelp extract or kelp meal at garden centers and feed stores. Look for Ascophyllum nodosum and OMRI Listed. I like AEA’s SeaStim. COMPOST & MULCH: make your own from kitchen scraps and leaves, ask local tree services for free wood chips, and keep your fallen leaves. RAIN BARRELS: Hardware and garden stores. I sourced my used food grade 55 gallon barrels off Facebook Marketplace. For my large rainwater collection system, use a tank supplier. Many cities and water utilities offer rebates or discount sales on rebates, so check yours. WATER INFO: search your city’s water quality report for the disinfectant info. For pH, hardness and salts, get a lab irrigation water test through your county extension office or an ag lab. I used Logan Labs for mine. Stay tuned for more info on this topic!

Regen Ag School 2026-060 | Plant Health Pyramid — From Cabbage Worms to Level 4 - In 4k on my You-Tube channel - link in bio Regen Ag School Feed the plant. The pest list shrinks. Not overnight. A staircase. Level 1 — complete photosynthesis. Enough energy to grow. Leaf is still a salad bar. Cabbage worms, aphids, flea beetles treat it as food. Level 2 — complete protein synthesis. Nitrogen plus Mo, S, Co, Fe. Simple sugars become complete proteins. Aphids start to drop. Level 3 / 4 — surplus energy. Lipids build the waxy cuticle. Secondary metabolites (phenols, terpenoids, alkaloids) make the leaf bitter to a chewing larva. Butterflies still lay. The first bite is the test. We are in the climb. Leaf Brix 8–10. Engine is on. Defense chemistry is not finished. Worms are smaller and fewer. They are not gone. BT is the bridge, not the religion. Bacillus thuringiensis. Evening pass. UV kills it in the sun. Caterpillar gut only. Bees, people, and the rest of the canopy stay out of it. Temporary. Targeted. Biological. While the soil work runs: marine shale + biochar, cover crops, biology in the drench. North-end Romas with extra foliar passes already show the other side of the staircase. Nutrition first. Tools while you climb. Not a philosophy. A practice. Have been having a great time learning from experienced farmers in conservation. Yesterday I was able to learn about regenerative soil health from @blossomandbranchfarm, @mnsoilhealthco, @albertleaseed, and @advancingecoag. I actually started my soil blocking journey because I came across @blossomandbranchfarm videos on YouTube. (Thanks to my farmer mentor @perennialhomestead for encouraging me to do the 5hr one way drive.) Monday I learned from @michael_fields_ag and @victorygarden. And a couple weeks ago I got to learn from @lamierdadevaca, @sobremesafarm, and @whabr_kin. @farmers.rising Do I miss biomedical engineering? Sometimes. But I haven’t left the STEM field and i’m excited to continue learning and sharing what I learn. #latinainstem #regenerative #farmers #urbanfarming #stem

Regen Ag School 2026-058 | The Soil Writes the Food — Why This Produce Is Different - Regen Ag School 2026-058 Why this produce is different. A tomato is a record of the soil it grew in. Minerals, biology, sunlight — flavor, texture, shelf life, density. Grocery Brix on a field tomato can sit around 4. Ordinary organic often around 6. These fruit, on a full biological program, run into double digits. That is not just sugar. Esters, volatiles, mineral finish. Calcium in the walls. Boron moving sugar into the fruit. Potassium driving ripen. Ocean traces for the oils that make an heirloom worth remembering. A chef does not need a refractometer. They taste it on the first bite. Thick walls. Less collapse in the walk-in. Cabbage that holds in a ferment. Tomato that slices instead of flooding the board. USDA numbers: broccoli with less calcium, iron, magnesium than 1975. NPK filled the bag. The rest of the table was stripped. Basalt, marine minerals, biology, RO water in the tank. Zinc, copper, manganese, boron, cobalt, molybdenum you can measure. Plant Health Pyramid, level four. Waxy cuticle. Pests do not treat it as food. No synthetic fungicide, insecticide, or herbicide on this fruit. Clover and wildflower for the hives. Cover crops through winter. Turkeys on weed seed. Bumblebees on the tomato flower. Same seed. Different script. This is midway point of a plan that has come together through countless hours of listening to podcasts while pruning and tending to vines. Essentially its a green manure crop, inoculated with a lactic acid bacteria ferment (plus extras) and shallowly incorporated (leaving the green manure crops roots in the ground) All going well, these facultative microbes will rapidly decompose and incorporate all this nutritional goodness into their tiny microbial cells, which will supress the germination of nitrophillic weeds, and allow us, in a week to 10 days, to plant a spring and summer active blend into these rows (which will remain traffic free as long as the season allows) Fingers crossed 🤞🏽 #flächenrotte #regerativeagriculture #northeastvictoria
