Featured @thesosyalgal Yosemite Day Trip with the fam for my momโ€™s birthday ๐ŸŽ‰ Hiked up Vernal Falls (Mist Trail) in 100 deg weather ๐Ÿฅต But so worth it! Trail is moderate but plentyyy of inclines, especially at the end. Shady areas along the way. Tips: Reserve your Yosemite day pass prior to visiting. Bring plenty of water, snacks, electrolytes & instant coffee if youโ€™re going this summer! If you decide to eat on the trail / outside your car, protect wildlife (especially my fave ๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿผ ๐Ÿป) by always storing your food properly and picking up litter. Yosemite has bear-proof trash cans, but arenโ€™t effective unless the trash is actually inside the ๐Ÿ—‘ (duh!) Ohhh and bring extra clothes to change into after that post-hike swim in the river ๐Ÿ˜ Comment ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿผ if you have any questions! Music: Take it Musician: LiQWYD #โฃโฃlandacknowledgement ๐Ÿ“In Yosemite Valley, California you are on Me-Wuk (Southern Sierra Miwok), Nuฬˆuฬˆmuฬˆ (Northern Paiute), and Miwok land. โฃโฃ โฃโฃ(source: https://land.codeforanchorage.org) โฃโฃ โฃโฃโฃโฃWant to be featured? What motivates YOUR โ€œoutdoorsyโ€? I wasnโ€™t always โ€œoutdoorsyโ€ and tbh Iโ€™m still coming to terms with thinking of myself as an outdoorsy person. For years it was a struggle for me to get outdoors, especially in the winter. I always felt like it needed a kind of determination and level of skill that I didnโ€™t possess. But Iโ€™ve come to learn that the biggest factor in being โ€œoutdoorsyโ€ is simply enjoying time outdoors and making it a part of your regular routineโ€ฆ and maybe a willingness to get outside your comfort zone. You donโ€™t need to look or dress any particular way (though you might), you donโ€™t need allllll the fancy gear (although I personally am a sucker for alllll the fancy gear). And extreme sport and adventure are awesome if thatโ€™s your motivation ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ, but itโ€™s not the only way to enjoy the outdoors. This post is for anyone who wants to spend more time outdoors but finds it hard to do -Iโ€™ve been there, youโ€™ve GOT this! โ€ฆ #becommingoutdoorsy #outdoors #outdoorslife #amplifyoutdoors #diversityoutdoors #explorens #explorenovascotia #getoutside #getoutsidens #hike #hikens #hikenovascotia #hiking #novascotiatrails #womenwhohike #hikingbaes #womenwhoexplore #alltrails #winter #winterhiking #winterhike #winterinns #winterinnovascotia #novascotiawinter #getoutsideinwinter #winteradventures #southshorens #lunenburgcountyhikers #novascotia #arcteryx

โ€œHi, itโ€™s been a while, so I thought Iโ€™d do a quick introduction for new followers / friends. ๐Ÿ‘‹ Weโ€™re the Wong family, and we live in Southern California. As noted in our bio, our family motto is โœจ Find the Wonder in Everyday โœจ. While IG may be a collection of highlights, what you see is more or less who we are - a family with an enthusiastic, energetic and grateful approach to life. As our familyโ€™s curator of photos and stories (Felicia), my appreciation for the beauty in every day is the lens and perspective through which I capture and share our adventures. Because Jason and I are both Hospital-based physicians, we are constantly reminded how precious each day is. Since my job as an ER and medical psychiatrist can be very heavy, I prioritize unplugging and getting outside with my family for physical, mental and emotional well-being. People often ask - โ€œHow do you juggle traditional full-time work, kidsโ€™ school/ activities with all these adventures/ experiences? The answer is that there is nothing โ€œbalancedโ€ about our lives - itโ€™s the extremes - we work hard (and a lot), we play hard (and a lot)! In order to โ€œdo it allโ€: - I plan/ pack after the kids have gone to bed. Same with unpacking. - I load the car the night before trips so we can leave immediately after work to maximize our time off - Our home is never tidy - I donโ€™t have time to formally โ€œwork outโ€ - It does help that we are an energetic family and all pretty flexible /adaptable - It doesnโ€™t make the grid, but we DO have rest days, as well as grind days. - my parents help after school and are really involved At the end of the day, we pour our energies into the things that matter most to us: helping others, connection, family, choosing joy and making the most of each day. Thanks for following along! โค๏ธโ€ - @everydayadventurefam ๐Ÿ“ Lookout Cabin, Canyons Resort 2.20.22 In Park City, Utah you are on Eastern Shoshone and Nuฬu-agha-tส‰vส‰-pส‰ฬฑ (Ute) land. Iโ€™m stepping onto my soapbox today to speak out about something thatโ€™s been on my mind a lot lately. ** Disclaimer- if youโ€™re just here for the hiking and you donโ€™t care about social justice, you should keep scrolling. Have you ever noticed the serious lack of representation of BIPOC and other people of colour on many of accounts we follow on social? Iโ€™m not talking about personal accounts, but brands, businesses and associations that operate in the outdoor space. If youโ€™ve noticed it, are you feeling as frustrated as I am? Itโ€™s 2022 and lots of folks still donโ€™t get that this is what micro aggression looks like. If you hadnโ€™t noticed, I challenge you to start paying attention- once you see it, you canโ€™t unsee it. Icanโ€™t tell you what to do about it, but I sure hope itโ€™s not โ€œnothingโ€. This is a tough conversation and I know many of us donโ€™t want to have it, but weโ€™ll never move beyond if we donโ€™t start talking and working through itโœŒ๐Ÿพ I also want to give a shout-out to @keencanada for being a great example of a brand thatโ€™s nailing it on social, and being inclusive without being tokenistic. Also, why is Unceded Miโ€™kmaq Territory again unavailable as a location tag on Instagram? ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ โ€ฆ #diversitymatters #representationmatters #diversityoutdoors #amplifyoutdoors #microaggression #diversityandinclusion #asiangirlshike #womenwhohike #womenwhoexplore
