Today, “Parents Have Feelings, Too” turns 1! Thank you to everyone who purchased a copy or wrote a review, or supported the book in any way.

@hilaryjacobshendel and I hope more parents feel held and helped by the tools we provide in our book, rooted in @aedpinstitute therapy and the science of how emotions work in the mind and body, including anxiety, sadness, anger, and guilt to name a few.

We provide a tool, “The Change Triangle” to help you parent from a place of calm, even amid the most chaotic moments. Tending to your emotional life is one of the wisest things you can do for yourself, as well as your family 💕

Venturing into new training! I'm excited to have started a 10 week program of AEDP (accelerated experiential dynamic psychotherapy). Proud to be adding another method to help clients with trauma and overwhelming emotions to experience positive connection and healing.

✨Discomfort is something we all experience, especially when fear tells us to stay where everything feels safe. 🌿

But feeling uncomfortable doesn't mean you're making the wrong choice. More often, it's a sign that you're learning, adapting, and becoming stronger than yesterday.

You don't have to enjoy discomfort—you only have to stop treating it as your enemy. Every small step forward is proof that courage can exist alongside fear. 💙

💬 🌼 Which tip will you practice the next time discomfort shows up? I'd love to hear your answer below! 💙

So honored to meet and learn from the people who built the frameworks I love, Dick Schwartz, the founder of IFS, and Diana Fosha, the developer of AEDP. Finding my own place in this work and adding my voice to the conversation means everything to me. Integrating AEDP and IFS in my work with queer and neurodivergent adults and ENM partners is where my heart is. These models together offer something I haven’t found anywhere else, a way of honoring every part of a person, their nervous system, their identity, their relationships, and their healing. More to come. ❤️

I’m excited to speak at the upcoming AEDP Clinician’s Corner!

✨ Relational Presence and Regulation: The Therapist as a Healing Attachment Figure ✨

As therapists, our healing power isn’t only in what we do—it’s also in how we show up.

In this experiential conversation, we’ll explore how our presence, emotional attunement, and capacity for co-regulation can serve as essential mechanisms for safety, trust, and transformation in therapy.

Together, we’ll reflect on:
• The therapist as a transitional attachment figure
• The role of embodied presence in healing
• Strengthening our capacity for steady regulation
• Moving beyond technique toward authentic relational engagement

📅 May 20, 2026
⏰ 7 PM ET

Looking forward to being in community and exploring the healing potential of the relational field.

AEDP, Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy, is a model that changed how many therapists understand healing and what is actually possible in the therapy room.

Most therapy models focus primarily on insight. Understanding why you feel the way you feel. And while insight matters, AEDP goes further. It works with what is happening emotionally and somatically, in your body, in the room, in real time, so that change is not just understood but actually felt.

One of the things that makes AEDP distinct is that it does not pathologize. It starts from the assumption that you have an innate capacity for healing, and that the right relational conditions can activate that capacity.

You don’t have to have the right words or the right insight. You just have to be willing to show up.

Childhood wounds leave scar tissue, affecting the way we see and feel about ourselves, our kids and the world around us.

Healing trauma at its root means connecting deeply with our emotional lives, and being able to name, validate and work through the emotions that we were shamed for experiencing.

My latest article for psyche magazine, which depicts the healing power of @aedpinstitute therapy and the benefits of working the Change Triangle, the emotional health tool included in @hilaryjacobshendel award-winning book “It’s Not Always Depression” and our book for parents, “Parents Have Feelings, Too.”

Many thanks to @ingridclaytonphd for sharing your wisdom with me, and to @orendafink for your deep and wonderful work on helping people heal from narcissistic abuse and sharing your story so vulnerably in your memoir.
