I had my eyes on this book from quite sometime, finally picked it up on a whim and finished it in a couple of days. I felt the book to be a bit repetitive in the start and almost gave up reading it but thanks to @aeon725 that I resumed it and I must say it was totally worth it. The book made me feel so many sentiments depicted throughout the story. I annotated the book initially but then I was so invested in the story that I just wanted to turn the pages day and night, without pausing even for a second. This book kept me glued till the very end. It’s so emotional and eye opening to get a close encounter with the veterans of wars, especially the women who aren’t even given the due credit for their hardships. War doesn’t just kill people it kills the soul of the ones who survived as well. The harsh memories, guilt , fighting with your conscious and endless nightmares aren’t easy to deal which every war veteran has to face. Reading about such heroes makes us realise how blessed we are yet we constantly crib for minor inconveniences. This one will stay with you for a much longer period of time even after finishing it. Definitely a must read!!! Kristin Hannah’s historical fiction books are a treat, do read The Nightingale too, if you haven’t read it yet.

#whatsinaname 'Diary of a reader' came to be my insta handle, cos I would compulsively write my thoughts on the books I read in a diary; quotes, authors' life history, books that awed me or disappointed me - everything went into the diary. I'd sit and write feverishly long after everyone was asleep. So when I started a #bookstagram account, and was hunting for a name, this one felt just right. In my first few posts the #diary always had a place of honour ( as u can see in the slide). I meant it to be so in every successive post. But wat with the 'need' for aesthetic look, the diaries slowly disappeared from the pics. Also, with booksta buddies to talk books with, I don't feel the urge to right in the diary anymore. Whatever I have to say, everything goes into the caption/msgs. 😅 So if the Bard were to ask what's in a name, well, I'd say - in there is a story, our identity even ! 🍁𝑰'𝒅 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒘 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒔𝒕𝒐𝒓𝒚 𝒃𝒆𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒅 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒍𝒆. The names u have chosen are so creative - some like an open book telling us much about yourselves and some pique my curiosity and yet others have a witty word-play in there ! So tell me, how did you happen to put your's together? . . . #bookishhabits #bookishthoughts #bookblog #bookpics #bookishphotography #bookpals #writingdiaries

This is more of a gratitude post...gratitude for this platform and the beautiful souls I could connect with here....gratitude for the warmth and comfort this space provides me... In the few hours I get after logging out, I take shelter in a world I know will never hurt me, at least not intentionally. I take comfort in the pages of books that I've reread a million times...and some times pick up new ones from my TBR whenever I feel that there is an ounce of life left in me..to go on another journey. Some times I wonder what goes through the minds of all those people who go to lengths to set traps, lie, and do what not just to suck away whatever little happiness or life is left in others....I wonder what kind of sick joy they gain... And in such days I feel grateful to be surrounded by my comfort books and to be a part of this lovely not-so-little space that gave me a chance to pour my heart out whenever and however I like...❤️ #gratitude #bookish #life #currentlyreadi̇ng #teaandbook

Or may be it was his works of fiction that sowed the seed for some of the greatest inventions yet. This post is to celebrate him who is known for the highest level of scientific accuracy in all of his sci-fi novels at a time when the 'real scientists' hadn't even begun to conceive of such an idea that was elaborately described in his thrilling adventures, the ideas that came to be realised and acted upon decades after his death. Salute to one of my absolute favourite authors, Jules Verne. @brewing.pagewise @_bookstatic @aeon725 you guys asked to see my Verne collection, and here they are - Slide 1 - Oceanic adventures. 🌊 𝟐- Those with earth n space as the theme. 🚀 𝟑 - fictional adventure travelogue🤭 𝟒 - Kidnapped . This looks like one of its kind that Jules has written. 𝟓 - the entire collection stacked As you can see, each one of them were newly bought. I couldn't find any in a thrift shop.☹️ Know why? Cos only a fool would cast Jules Verne away !! But sadly, even new ones aren't easy to come by... A huge thanks to @amazonbooksin where I found these books n thousand thanks to the publishers.💕 #julesverne #aroundtheworldin80days #fiveweeksinaballoon #20000leaguesunderthesea #twentythousandleaguesunderthesea #classics #scifi #scifibooks #frenchclassics #thrillers #classicthrillers #bookstagram #bookblogger #showcasingbooks #booksets #bookstack

Thank you @aeon725 for the book. Sorta liked it for its simplicity and ease of reading and connectivity between the short stories. I read the book in one setting and this book has some profound takeaways with easy words, and it is a book lover’s dream to go to library and get connected with Books and get their life revolving around the library and books and use books as inspiration and take action. Some Quotes I liked “You may say that it was the book, but it’s how you read a book that is most valuable, rather than any power it might have itself.” “Things change, even if you want them to stay the same. At the same time, you can try to change, but you will still remain the same.“ #thebookishtribe #bookclubs #bookclubsofinstagram #tribe #bookishtribe #bookclubrules #bookstagram #bookstagrammers #bookclubrecommendations #bookreviews #bookmarks #booklove #booklovers #bookishfeatures #bibliophiles

"You drew stars around my scars...Now, I'm bleeding..." ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Reading Lulu taylor for the first time, her way of writing and story telling is mesmerizing. The constant feminine need for communication, clarification expressed so clearly by her female characters. And the suffering masculine, possessed by wealth, dreams, passion, but unable to leave the one thing that is destroying their life. The house, becoming a character in itself, a used trope maybe, but still gave an interesting touch to the novel. I love the way, buttercup the protagonist, was stumbling to find the truth, her thoughts and confusions echoing so vividly that it resonates with the reader. That's some talent right there. The unexpected mystery revealed at the very end like some Christmas presents wrapped and kept locked, only to surprise you all of a sudden. Beautifully portrayed and absolutely marvelous. ....,..................... Thanks for gifting me this @_._yezdi_._ 🥺✒️♥️ 🤍🫂 Totally loved it. 🥺🤍 . . . ✒️ @loxt.breath #thewintersecret #lulutaylor #booksrecommenedtoyou

What should you look for in a friend, their sunny optimism sustaining us for some time before we begin to realise that the ageing process inevitably overtakes all? I decided to quiz a few of my school buddies, our WhatsApp group resuscitating only ‘occasionally’ from its flat lined countenance on other days. In this brave new world, are friendships like those of yore possible and what are the rules? Support, trust and honesty, advised one. Kindness and listening skills, uttered another. Park the judgment, offered a third. Reciprocity and celebrating each other, pronounced yet another. None of these could be argued with. And yet, that wasn’t the answer I hoped for. Book Collectors are alpha- hunters who chase their query through the dusty shelves of antiquarian bookshops. (Or, less lyrically, across the blinking screens of their computers browsing through thrift shops, Abebooks and the kind.)They build literary landscapes using razor sharp focus, and with particular goals in mind. Aesthetics, interests, charity, work, pleasure, scholarly pursuits, pure awesomeness, and greed are all reasons for them to satiate their hunger. I collect ‘special edition’ friends too- making sure that we don’t grow merely older, but beautifully vintage!! Friends pick us up when we fall down, and if they can’t, they lie down and listen for a while. And so I would expect you all to do whenever the need arises @diary.ofa.reader , @the.bookish.epicure @aeon725 @purplelights2021 @tanvisreadventures @sruthis_bookland @fae_rly_red @lines_for_your_life @eranehreads @chuseyreader @alazywriter @thebookishtales All the cliches should come to your mind by now- because all conditions apply! #bookstagram #bookbuddies #friendshipgoals

💫Faces on Covers💫 I was attempting to sort out my bookshelves - I say attempting, because I gave up halfway and now my bookshelves are probably messier than when I started! I have realised that this will need planning (and patience), so I have put it on my 'to-do' list for some weekend in the future (distant future) 🤫 During this unsuccessful excercise, however, I noticed that I have quite a few books with faces on the covers! And I remembered that once, very long ago, I was tagged in the #facesoncovers challenge. So, here's my attempt at the challenge although I wasn't able to fit in all the books with faces on the covers in this picture ! I didn't get clean shelves today, but I got book pictures to post instead! I will consider that a win 😊😊 Tagging a few people to do this challenge if you are interested! No pressure though! QOTD:- How do you sort your book shelves?
