It’s my Lyraversary! 1 year ago I stepped into @secretgardenpole for my first ever aerial class. I mean, never touched a Lyra, Pole or Silk and I committed with a 5 week series 😂
But I had no worries because @aerial.luxe is my instructor. It also was her first day as an instructor (Day 1s).
This year has been full of challenges and amazing memories. I’ve had ROUGH times where I could leave it in the hoop…I’ve been able to cheer on my Lyra Sisters and Cousins. The community that I have at The Garden is unmatched!
I realized that I found my way back to a piece of myself that I didn’t know was “lost”. In choosing to do something simply for myself…I realized the importance of choosing myself. Showing up for myself and not quitting when things get hard.

I learned from @aerial.luxe to slow down and also it’s ok if I don’t get something the first time.

I have learned from @cocoa.cashmere.aerial to think from a different perspective but also flow…and if I find myself thinking when in the hoop…just go back to a horse

I learned from @spinning.incircles to aim for the sky! She believes in all of us.

I learned from @nicciweiss_poles to just flow through it and have fun.

I learned from my Lyra Sisters and Cousins that sometimes we’re our biggest critic…but you never know who’s inspired by you! #lyra #gardenlyragirlie #blackaerialist #secretgarden #doyouhaveakey #hoopfairy

Gratitude for being back at The Garden.
Gratitude for the ability to express myself through movement.

Getting back in the hoop after a 5 month hiatus was challenging, but I was determined. Before every series Sunday, I would remind myself to just have fun. I couldn’t have done it without my amazing instructor and the support of my Lyra sisters, who welcomed be back with open arms and open hearts. Every word of encouragement, every, “girl, get out of your head; you can do this,” every single ass slap, and OH, every single bruise got me to this point. Ohhhh, to be a Garden Girl. 💐

It feels good to be back. 😎

🎥: the world’s best Lyra instructor, @aerial.luxe. (listen to all of the support and love in the room).

*I do not own the rights to this music, IG, so please don’t try to play me. Thanks, pookie.*

This weekend, I had the pleasure of hosting Lyra at the Lake. Thank you to @aerial.luxe for teaming up on this! If ya’ll could see that Apple Note 😂
The theme was Camp and it was fun to do camp activities and just be big kids for a little while.
This event was truly a labor of love and it feels good to pour into a community that gives me so much love. And ya’ll I live in the moment aka forgot to record a lot lol so thanks for the videos.
We were missing some people so I’m already thinking about running it back!
Thank you to everyone that could make it! The day was amazing.

Yesterday was so amazing ! @spinning_karma you are so creative with a generous heart and welcoming spirit and Lyra at the Lake was such a great time for us all. ⛺️🤸🏾‍♀️

I think I did what I was supposed to as a camp counselor, which was make a grazing board and make really strong drinks for post hoop shenanigans 🤞🏾🍹. For everyone that met lit Luxe yesterday, you’re welcome 😂🤣

So one night I was rambling in @cocoa.cashmere.aerial inbox about a new entry sequence I’m concocting and I said “ aight so boom. I’m gonna pull up , yeet my body through the hoop and enter a super spin under the hoop without mounting it and then I’m gonna [redacted cause I haven’t tried that part yet]” she said “ I was with you until I wasn’t so just try and show me😂”

Fast forward to a post teaching spin on Sunday. I was about to go perform at my first wedding and was a ball of nerves, and the perfect way to get them out was to see if I could indeed do what I imagined. I did, and I carried the energy from my girls and that moment with me into my performance that evening ( I promise I will share it soon, I’m still processing. It was surreal)

We added “Luxe the Airbender” to my list of aliases 💎 I’m so excited to work towards getting this sequence to its final form

Pre graduation night out ! I had the best time at @beatthebomb with my series girlies tonight, and they still love me after seeing my competitive Capricorn nature come out ( yall I was carrying on in the laser maze room) . Love y’all and I’m so grateful to be on this journey together. Can’t wait for the next outing 🫶🏾

Luxe: “So, this series’ graduation theme is going to be early 2000s (hence the airbrushed shirt and bandanna), so I want ya’ll to select a song btwn the year 2000-2010.”

Me: (thought long and hard and didn’t pick a song until the week before, but it was worth the wait 🤸🏽‍♀️).

This series challenged me mentally and physically, but I’m grateful for what my body can do once my mind is made up.

To my amazing instructor @aerial.luxe: thank you for always encouraging me and reminding me what I am capable of, and for also checking me when I need it. This is deeper than Lyra. 💐💎

& to my Lyra sisters, I couldn’t imagine being on this journey with anyone else. I’m going to miss ya’ll for the next couple of weeks, but fret NOT, because I’ll be back!

P.S. thank you to Kyla, Camrei, and Oyah for coming out to support me. I love ya’ll. 🤎

P.P.S. one thing my girl Shew is gonna do is hype me up in the background and get my angles real good! 😮‍💨
