So a little shoe review on the @on CloudBoom Strike 2. I have had 3 runs in this shoe now with my goal race being last weekend's Valley Harvest Ultra Marathon. My first run was a 25km race pace test where I ran a rolling hill route and a managed to easily push well past race pace while feeling fresh. I then did a race paced effort at the end of my long run two weekend's ago. Both times I reached or exceeded race pace while keeping a fairly low heart rate. Then on race day I strapped them on for a 50km Ultra effort, exceeding my A Plan goal by 2 minutes while holding a very steady pace on course (again with a fairly low heart rate compared to pace).

What I have found? I purchased the shoe in my regular size (10.5) and that seems to be the correct size. The shoe is super light weight. The upper is thin and airy, but the tongue and heel cup have just enough padding to feel secure and reduce any pressure points. I did use a lace lock technique on my right shoe, as I often do this on all my shoes where I plan to run really fast. My left foot doesn't need this. Standing in this shoe feels slightly unstable as the foam is quite soft. But once you start running at speed, the foam and shoe seem to stabilize and firm up just enough enough. Stop and walk and it is soft again. So if you plan on trying this shoe, don't judge it while standing in the store. Ideally get on a treadmill for a few minutes. I ended the race with no blisters, or banged up toes. They are for sure not hot. I wasn't needing to take any super sharp corners but any cornering I did was fine. All soft super shoes with high stacks will have some level of instability when going around sharp corners, this is something that trial runs will help you understand. Once I recover from my race, I'll see how these work at even faster paces for some shorter races. The terrain for the Ultra race was asphalt, crusher dust and a few areas of ripped up asphalt. None of that seemed to matter as the level of grip was perfectly fine. The rocker seems to flow very nicely and I wouldn't say is overly aggressive. I think this helped keep my calves feeling fresh later in the race. Go check it out locally at @aerobics_first

Another medal to be grateful for! 🤎

So happy I was able to pace again at the @vhmarathon yesterday, literally one of the best weekends of the year!! I absolutely LOVE pacing and helping others achieve their running goals. I paced the 55min 10km and we finished in 53:58 (a little quick, but the course ran longer last year so I wanted to make sure I had banked enough time) and we did it !!

If I could be a pacer full time, I would ❤️

Happy hearts, happy legs and big smiles
