🎮✨ Remember when every new game felt like a whole new world to discover? Longtime Charlotte resident Marina Clark (@agent_aquam) is an artist whose work combines her love of a good story, humor, science, and technology with a dash of commentary. Known for her digital nostalgia art, Marina is just as comfortable returning to a sketch pad and plenty of ink or embracing the expressive mess of paint. A self-described "Jill of all Trades," she is constantly challenging herself, building a wide arsenal of artistic skills, and finding new ways to bring different techniques and mediums into her work. For her ArtCade, Marina looked back to the sense of wonder she experienced playing games in the early '90s, when colorful characters waited to be discovered and entirely new worlds seemed ready to explore. Her design celebrates that feeling of curiosity, discovery, and imagination that made those early gaming experiences so memorable. When she's not finding niche characters to draw, Marina can be found training for boxing, chatting at the local game store, spending time with her fiancé, and, of course, gaming. Marina is one of 21 artists helping shape the next wave of ArtCades, with artist commissions made possible through funding from the @clturbandesign Placemaking Grant. 🎮🎨 Stay tuned as we continue revealing the artists behind the next set of ArtCades. #ArtCade #PotionsAndPixels #CharlotteArtists #CharlotteArt #ArtistSpotlight #Illustration #DigitalArt #NostalgiaArt #GameArt #ArcadeArt #PublicArt #SupportLocalArtists

For the uninitiated backseating is a term used in gaming where others tell the player what’s going to happen or give away details that they don’t know yet ~ #bebrave #spoilerfree #darkabyss #dontfeartheunknown
