Flew to New York to see Gigi Masin play Age of Reflection in a church in Brooklyn, and again at Plantasia. Was an amazing experience.

I've been listening to his music for years. Through the worst stretches of med school, through a lot of nights I'd rather not describe, that music was usually what was on. It's hard to explain what it does - it just sits with you.

Hearing his music live was great. Met him and he was a genuinely great guy - signed some albums I had.

Next week, 𝗨𝗡𝗦𝗘𝗘𝗡 𝗩𝗜𝗦𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗦: 𝘈 𝘕𝘦𝘸 𝘈𝘨𝘦 𝘔𝘶𝘴𝘪𝘤 & 𝘊𝘶𝘭𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘚𝘺𝘮𝘱𝘰𝘴𝘪𝘶𝘮 ✨

Across two days of live music, film, conversation, and archival media, Unseen Visions brings together voices from New Age, ambient music, visionary film, and West Coast counterculture.

It's the brainchild of our friend Jacob Smith, professor at Northwestern University, made in support of his forthcoming book 𝘉𝘳𝘪𝘥𝘨𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘢𝘯 𝘜𝘯𝘴𝘦𝘦𝘯 𝘚𝘩𝘰𝘳𝘦: 𝘕𝘦𝘸 𝘈𝘨𝘦 𝘔𝘶𝘴𝘪𝘤 𝘢𝘴 𝘝𝘪𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘳𝘺 𝘈𝘳𝘵 (University of California Press).

When I had a classical music show called Preludes on Noods radio, I played Gigi’s music on every episode. His seminal album Winds was made 11 years before I was born but it felt so contemporary. I still meditate and write while listening to Swallow’s Tempest on repeat. And Call Me can make me cry at any given moment.

They say never meet your idols but I’m so glad I met you last night. Thank you @gigi_masin for making music that connects us to the gods.

Incredibly grateful to be able to travel to Los Angeles and see @gigi_masin and @cole.pulice live with my friend @reidenrico. First time going to a live performance in a long time and it was amazing! Thank you @ageofreflections for putting this together
