I’ve been in awe of the Texas Roller Derby for a while now. There’s something special about a sport that takes its athleticism seriously but leaves so much room for play, performance, and personality. Since 2001, TXRD has become part of Austin’s cultural fabric, with skaters appearing in documentaries, films, and TV series, including Whip It, directed by Drew Barrymore and starring Elliot Page, and The Flaming Lips’ music video for “The W.A.N.D.” And about a million more references, I digress…

Play is something I keep coming back to in my own work, so I was thrilled to photograph @cherrybombs_txrd again, this time partying in a shitty Austin motel for some team portraits. ✨🎉😎

Thank you for having me Cherry Bombs, 🙏 Anya, & Zara. Please let me know if I missed anyone. 💛💛💛

Last night was a dream. Our team cranked hard in the off season after rebuilding and went into yesterday (and the rest of 2025) with #anyonecangetit. We’re all feeling it today, but it was worth it to take home our first win since I’ve been on the team. Also a s/o to @txrdholyrollers, it was a pleasure as always to take the track with y’all 🖤 #burninhell #porvida 🔥✨ @putasdelfuego
