I can’t lie.. this week was challenging 🕊️❤️‍🩹 But it helps seeing the many people and hearing the countless stories of how you’ve touched their lives and made them better. For many, it just started out with learning how to throw shot put, discus, hammer, javelin, weight.. But then, these lessons transferred into life.. Thank you for reminding us to “do the right thing because it’s the right thing to do” and for believing in all of us. Sleep well, Big A 🤞🏽🕊️🫡

If you are a native to Maryland high school track and field, you have seen Nick Agoris at a meet. This man did so much for my track and field journey as a young man in high school and also shaped me outside of track as well. We have lost an absolute legend in the throws community that promoted the sport and touched so many lives in a positive way in the state of Maryland and beyond. RIP Coach Agoris ❤️

Last night, Sidney’s private throwing coach, Nick “Big A” Agoris, passed away unexpectedly. Our family is heartbroken. Big A once told us Sidney was “up next.” I didn’t see what he saw then, but we trusted him and trusted the process. Before Sidney’s indoor state meet, he met her at her high school and practiced with her in the freezing cold on a patch of dry asphalt in the parking lot. From subfreezing temperatures to 100-degree days, he showed up. He picked Sidney up after big disappointments and called to encourage her before big meets. More than anything, Big A told me time and again, “Sidney’s best days as a thrower are ahead of her.” I didn’t always see what he saw, but we trusted his vision. We still do. Sidney went on to become a Maryland state champion and continue her throwing career at Cowley College, where she’s now coached by one of Big A’s mentees. Even though he’s no longer here, his belief in her stays with us. We’ll keep trusting his vision and supporting Sidney as she works toward the future he saw for her. We’re grateful for everything Big A gave Sidney. We’re keeping his family, friends, and athletes in our thoughts and prayers. Rest easy, Big A. 2+2=4

In response to the previous post: This is raw footage from two separate throwing sessions at Southwestern College in Kansas. The videos are from November 2015, a time when the dream of throwing far enough to be considered great was still burning despite already being 30 years old. By then, the landscape had changed. The familiar peers were gone, replaced by college athletes six or seven years younger, yet the pursuit continued all the same. New voices entered the journey during that period, including TJ Harris and Coach Neil Serefanas. TJ brought thoughtful perspective to life as a family man and kept a watchful eye, holding me accountable even while managing a full roster of his own athletes.  Coach Serefanas brought clarity. Every piece of technical insight shared with both Yao Adantor and myself seemed to connect in a way that hadn’t before. Maybe maturity finally allowed the lessons to land, or maybe the hunger for growth had reached a new level. The chase was relentless. Balancing a full‑time job, coaching responsibilities, and the desire to become something that had never been seen growing up: a father. Maybe some moments with family slipped away during this pursuit, or maybe that’s just hindsight talking. What’s certain is that countless hours were invested chasing the vision of becoming a great thrower, and the memories forged along the way remain priceless. The journey didn’t end where the dream initially pointed, but the path taken was meaningful and maybe even necessary.

Last state meet went better than I could imagine. With a PR in both events which got me the school record in shot and extended my discus record by 21 ft. So thankful to have worked with the coaches I have throughout these past few years and the people I have met. Can’t wait for next year in Rock Hill. @winthroptrackxc
