From a casual locker room conversation with @harley.realestate, to rolling and learning with a bunch of friends in a garage, to finally making the decision to joining a gym at @vabjjtx.
It’s continuing to be an amazing ongoing journey thanks to many others.

Thank you, Professor @agudobjj for believing in me, pushing me, and giving me a place to grow on and off the mats. I’m grateful for your guidance, patience, and the standard you set every day.

To my mentors: thank you for sharing your knowledge and holding me accountable.
To my teammates and friends: thank you for the laughs, the encouragement, and for making this journey feel like family.
And to my rivals: thank you for all the tough rolls, continuing to test my heart and make me better.
On wards to the next 🫡

We had belt promotions at @vabjjtx today and I had an unexpected surprise. I came to support the rest of the VA family and walked away with a promotion as well. That’s two strips for Hayes and one for me.

We’re locked in and learning this humbling sport together. We’ll continue to show up, work hard, support others and better ourselves

Thank you to the rest of the VA family and Professor @agudobjj

Juneteenth marks June 19, 1865, the day the last enslaved people in Texas were informed of their freedom, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed.

As a Texas academy, we recognize the significance of this day and the history behind it.

To honor Juneteenth, VA Academy will be hosting an Open Mat at 11:00 AM.

All academies and affiliations are welcome. No mat fees.

Memorial Day Open Mat 🇺🇸

Proud of our team today.

Our students, families and friends came together and raised $750 for the We Defy Foundation through Jiu-Jitsu, community and shared purpose.

That’s what real culture looks like.
People showing up for each other.
People supporting something bigger than themselves.

Grateful to everyone who spent part of their Memorial Day weekend on the mats with us.
