Appreciation post for my teammates. I chose to use the word “teammates” for a specific reason. I didn’t always think this way. When I used to be in a group of people and we had a goal to accomplish, I always tried to be the head coach. My relationships were mostly transactional in that I took a “here’s what I want out of you” approach. I used to hate the idea of teamwork because I was so outcome-oriented that I would preemptively think of everything that could possibly go wrong. My perfectionism blinded me to the finer details of the process.

Now, I’ve decided to take a humble approach. I’m taking the field with my teammates and working through the process with them, one moment at a time. Everyone is their own person and brings something unique to the table. Yet, at the end of the day, we suit up and lean on each other to execute and do our job as a unit. So why am I using a football analogy? It takes a collective effort to move the chains. Instead of focusing on the scoreboard, I’m focusing on what I need to do in the moment. To my cohort: thank you for always having my back, and I’ve always got yours.

feeling overwhelmed. grateful. these last two years have been grueling and i’ve felt every emotion on the spectrum: grief, joy, relief, stress, defeat, success. when first generation students were asked to stand, the weight of what i achieved finally hit me. so many sacrifices were made for me to stand there in that room, make it this far with my education; for those i’ve lost, i felt them cheering me on in that moment.

this cohort, meeting these people, helped shape me into who i am. grad school challenged and pushed me to the brink, and helped me see that i’m capable of more than i thought. thank you @ukygradschool and @uk_ci !!!

We are excited to launch recruitment efforts for our study examining political differences among parents and their adult children! Screening link in bio.

You may be eligible if you:

• are 18+ years old
• are fluent in English and reside in the United States
• Have reliable internet access
• Have a parent or child who also meets the above criteria, speaks with you at least 3x a week, holds different political beliefs, is willing to participate with you, and with whom you’ve experienced political conflict in the past six months.

Following the conclusion of your participation, you will be offered:

• up to $60 on compensation ($10 for each of the 6 study components: six weekly follow-up surveys)
• a chance to win an additional $100 gift card — dyads who complete all 6 components will be entered into a drawing for a bonus gift card.

If you and your parent or child are interested, please complete our screening survey at
https://uky.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_4SYIXooQGzZovEG

You will be asked to provide the contact information of the parent or child that you wish to participate with, so please check with them first.

Please all feel free to share with your networks! We are excited to pursue this research.
