In 1993, the whole world watched a film about a genocide, and the image nobody could forget was a little girl in a red coat — the one splash of color, walking alone through the destruction while the world looked the other way.
Spielberg said the red coat meant it was all happening in plain sight. Impossible to miss. And still, nobody stopped it.
This is not a film. This little girl in red is real. She is standing in what is left of her family's home in Gaza. Her mother sent me this picture — a mother, showing the world what her child is standing in.
In 1993 we said "never again" — and we meant it as a promise. Look at her. She is standing in plain sight too.
She is not a headline. She is not a side in an argument. She is somebody's baby, in a red jacket, standing in the ruins of her home. If we can see her — really see her — maybe we can remember that the people on the other side of our screens are people. Just people. Same as us.
Everyone can love more. 🫶

4 weeks. That's how long it's been since Sabreen's family received a single donation. 💔
Her husband Ahmed is in the hospital in Gaza and urgently needs help with his medical treatment. Meanwhile Sabreen is holding her family together with no clean water, no medicine, and food that's almost impossible to afford. They've lost their home, their jobs, and their only source of income.
If you can give anything at all, it goes toward food, water, basic necessities, and Ahmed's treatment. And if you can't give, a share costs nothing and could reach someone who can. 🤍

🚨 28 DAYS WITHOUT A DONATION 🚨

This is Ahmed — Sabreen's husband and a father of five. He is recovering from surgery in a hospital in Gaza, and his family urgently needs help with his medical treatment and care.

They live in a tent with no electricity and no clean water. Food is hard to get and very expensive. And almost a month has passed without a single donation.

Please don't scroll past. Donate if you can, share if you can't — every share reaches someone who can help. 🤍

Meet Layan. A 13 year old girl who loves making art. Layan is living with her family in a tent in Gaza's Deir Al Balah camp. Layan was born with a cleft lip & palate. She had surgery as a baby, but as her adult teeth have grown, she's experienced complications and requires orthodontal work and ultimately further surgery. I have got to know the family over the past year and have been fundraising for her for the past few months. Thanks to very genorous donations, Layan has recently started her treatment, but there is still a way to go. Please see the Crowdfunder link in my bio for more information and to donate. Every £1 helps Layan directly. Thank you for your support.
