What a DesignXPO! ✨

ASID NJ #DesignXPO was truly one for the books! From inspiring CEU sessions to meaningful celebrations, the day was filled with connection, learning, and moments worth remembering.

We kicked things off with @elan_design_interiors_fineart sharing insights on neuroaesthetics, followed by our Presidents’ Luncheon and Pass the Gavel, where we welcomed the FY 2026–2027 Board. We also introduced our very first Legacy Awards, honoring Diane Gote (@design_worksnj), Kimberley Slater (@designrep_kslater), and Celeste Chirichello (@celestechirichello) for their incredible commitment and contributions to ASID. 🤍

We wrapped up the day with @intelligent.designer.ai engaging session on AI and its impact on the design industry.

If you missed #DesignXPO, you definitely missed a good one! Thank you to everyone who came out and helped make this event such a huge success.
To our exhibitors: we truly appreciate your commitment and dedication to the design community. Without your valuable participation and support, we could not have achieved such a successful event! ✨

CHS Cougar Boosters and MAPSO Community Give Teacher and Custodian Lounges a Fresh Start

Teachers and custodial staff returning to Columbia High School today are being welcomed back with something new: refreshed spaces created especially for them.

The CHS Cougar Boosters put out the call for help, and the MAPSO community stepped up in a big way. Through donations to our Givebutter campaign, purchases from an Amazon wish list, donated materials, and countless hours of volunteer time and expertise, these spaces were completely transformed.

A huge thank you to everyone who donated funds, furniture, kitchen supplies, décor, time and talent — and a special thank you to:

Dave Kasdan of @kasdan_construction for generously donating his contracting expertise;
Han Ergin of @myhousekitchen for providing the cabinets and countertops at cost;
Ed Peterson @edpeterson0327 and his team for their painting and tile work;
Elana Nanscawen of @stylecomfortfunction for her design expertise and for personally donating many of the finishing touches — and her husband, James, for spending a day picking up and assembling the table and sofa;
and Alexa Ralff of @ahrdesign for helping secure the generous donations of paint from @SherwinWilliams and @colorfully.mel, tile from @virtuetile, and the custodian lounge rug from @exceptionalflooringconcepts.

And thank YOU to the MAPSO community for showing up for the people who show up for our kids every day.

My new living room is bringing me so much joy. The colors, the fabrics, the textures, the comfort, everything. Can’t wait for the rest of the space to be finished, too. Thank you @ahrdesign.

Every project has a challenge. This one just happened to involve plumbing.

When Alexa from @ahrdesign brought me into this mudroom project in Summit, we needed to work around existing drainage without sacrificing the design. Instead of treating it like something to hide, we turned it into a feature by incorporating three custom picture frames that celebrate the boys who use this space every day. Unless you knew it was there, you’d never guess plumbing was hidden behind them.

One thing that’s shaped the way I design is that I started this business building projects myself. Understanding how cabinetry is actually constructed allows me to think like a millworker and a designer at the same time. That’s where the best solutions come from.

The result is a mudroom that’s functional for three athletic boys, balanced in its design, and beautiful enough to feel like it was always meant to be this way.

Thank you, Alexa, for trusting me on another collaboration. 🤍
