POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Published today! When Jon Richardson unearthed his teenage diaries among a stash of 1990s mementoes, he faltered. How much value could there be in revisiting the awkward, unfiltered thoughts of a 14-year-old boy, especially now, in his forties and a successful comedian, actor and father?

As it turns out, quite a lot.

The Teenage Diaries of a Stand-Up Comedian is out now in hardback, eBook and audiobook 🎉

Amazing news… Sheffield has been shortlisted for UK City of Culture 2029! 🥳✨🤩

From grassroots to global, we know Sheffield is already “our” city of culture, but being shortlisted is a fantastic recognition of the incredible artists, creatives, organisations and communities that make our cultural landscape so special.

This is a milestone shaped by many. More than 1,400 people have helped inform Sheffield’s bid, sharing ideas, ambitions and challenges that will continue to shape cultural development across the city. A huge thank you to everyone who has contributed so far.

The UK City of Culture judges will now visit Sheffield in the coming weeks before making their final decision in early 2027. 🤞

No matter what happens now, we will receive some funding for arts and culture from the @dcmsgovuk. This will help us deliver on some of the ideas that came out of the City of Culture engagement process, regardless of the judges’ final decision.

Whilst there’s loads of exciting stuff on the horizon, we’re not stopping at the shortlist; we want the title.

We congratulate the other shortlisted places and wish them the best of luck in the final leg of the competition. 🙌

Head to the link in our bio to find out more 🔗

Arts and culture is for everyone 🎨💛

Here in Sheffield, we’re building a culture of care, where everyone has the chance to experience and enjoy creativity, ensuring nobody gets left behind.

We caught up with @_kayleigh_c_ from @artworkssy to hear more about the incredible work that they’re doing to make arts and culture accessible for all. 🫶

📹: Massive thanks as always to @aidan.joseph for the great edit.

‘The world needs to be more connected now than ever.’ 🌍🫶

We had a lovely chat with @famorne_ from the Sheffield and District African Caribbean Community Association, @sadaccalimited.

Places like SADACCA are essential hubs of culture, creativity and community, helping to keep people across Sheffield connected.

The work they do to bring together communities helps to make Sheffield the welcoming, creative city it is today. 🏙️💛

Will forever rep @thelenzman and @watchtheride_ @ranstar88 🔊

Was supposed to hand over the decks to Lenzman at this event this summer. 💔 Was only right to drop some of his music. Lenzman and Randall were both always a massive inspiration and their music will never leave my sets. 🔊

Thankyou @dnbbq_official @razesoundsystem @sinaisound @mc_lukai and all the people of Sheffield for giving me such a beautiful opportunity to play this music I love ❤️

And to @aidan.joseph for capturing the moment 🎥

As we get closer to finding out if Sheffield has been shortlisted for UK City of Culture 2029, we’re revisiting our summer bid campaign and celebrating some of the incredible people that make up Sheffield’s culture sector.

@newmanejdirector, Artistic Director of @sheffieldtheatres, sat down with us to talk about storytelling, creativity and the impact of the largest theatre complex outside of London.

Producing world-class shows that go on to reach audiences in the West End, Broadway and beyond. 🎭✨

📹: Huge thanks, as ever, to @aidan.joseph for the fantastic edit. Keep an eye out for more spotlights to come.

There’s still a few days left to catch Open Works festival, so make sure to catch it while it’s here.
