some shots to summarize what was a challenging year. 2025 was a lot of giving. 2026 is for the taking.
I’ll stop using the point and shoot when my friends stop being so darn cute.
Hell is the day after the party.

Celebrating 8 years since the last time I used heroin and nearly died from an overdose.
Not big on New Year’s resolutions, but I do like to take this day to reflect on the year, spend some time with myself, and to give thanks to those who have made my recovery possible, and continue to.

Thank you❤️

This year was tough and filled with a lot of joy and connection. Feeling a lot more at home in my body this year after having a surgery I had been wanting for about a decade, knowing myself a bit better and in ways I didn’t expect, forming new connections, and connecting with those I love and who love me.

Although I don’t follow the program of AA, it was especially helpful for me to connect with sober people in early recovery and my butch sponsor was amazing. Hearing from folks in different types of recovery meetings has been an important source of support. The practice of harm reduction kept me alive, and is the foundation of my recovery, not only in regards to substance use, but a throughline in my life. Today my partner gave me my 8 year coin in a meeting and that was really special.

I am incredibly grateful to work with people in varying stages of their own recovery journeys and life changes, and my work as a death doula. It’s nothing short of an honor.

I’m grateful for the Elders and others at Healing Lodge of the Seven Nations for saving my life and caring for me. I carry those lessons with me all the time.

Folks who use drugs deserve respect, autonomy, safety, and kindness.
