Pulled from a standout moment in our 2025 lineup, this clip with Joni Daley @jonidaley @rivalaxethrowing captures the spark behind one of Airdrie’s most unexpected business beginnings.
The idea for axe throwing hit during a post‑surgery recovery — a vision that came out of nowhere, long before she’d ever thrown an axe herself. Within an hour, she and her son were sketching out what the space could become. With support from the city and a whole lot of determination, the first two lanes opened just a week or two later. A leap that didn’t wait for perfect timing.
An idea born in recovery, built in real time, and carried forward by sheer conviction.

Taken from a light, hype‑filled moment in our 2025 lineup, this clip with Christian Hudson @christian.hudson looks back at the spark that first pulled him toward music
It all started with a friend showing him Ed Sheeran in a school computer class — a sound that shifted everything. What stood out wasn’t flash or theatrics, but the reminder that you can make an impact with nothing more than a guitar, solid rhythm, honest writing, and the basics done well. No choreography, no superstar polish, just skill and simplicity.
A nod to the artists who prove that mastering the fundamentals can take you farther than you think.

From deep in our 2025 archive, this clip with Beckie Ryan @11bex22 pulls back the curtain on one of the wildest parts of fight prep.
The men on the card won’t know their opponents until they’re already walking out — a twist that turns every sparring session into a guessing game and adds a whole new layer of mental strategy. Training with different partners each week is one thing; stepping into the ring without knowing who’s waiting on the other side is something else entirely.
A glimpse into the mind games, the adrenaline, and the unpredictability that make this event unlike anything else.

Lifted from one of the most heartfelt reflections in our 2025 archive, this moment with Mayor Kim Harris and Jennifer Watson @jenniferannwatson @crossfieldskatingclub captures what it means to truly love where you live.
It was all about the gift of belonging to not just one town, but two — and the pride that comes with calling Crossfield home. A place where community isn’t just a word: it’s neighbours showing up when a family needs support, volunteers rallying when a rink needs attention, and local businesses stepping in without hesitation.
Here, everyone plays a part. Residents, nonprofits, small shops, and long‑time locals all pulling in the same direction because they care about seeing good things happen for their town.
A portrait of community spirit at its strongest — and the people who keep it alive.

This Thanksgiving, inside the 2025 catalogue, this moment with Shannon Wiebe @becomingclothesminded @100womenwhocareairdrie still stands as one of those conversations that stays with you.

Advocacy doesn’t end with an email or a letter — and Shannon is living proof. She spoke about what it really means to use your voice in a democracy, and how the people we elect are there to listen when we push for the things that matter. With her political science roots and her steady determination, she showed how everyday citizens can move an issue forward, ask the right questions, and spark conversations in the rooms where decisions are made.
Proof that meaningful change often begins with one person who simply refuses to let something drop.

A Thanksgiving reminder that communities thrive because people like Shannon keep showing up.

As we rewind to 2025, this moment from Riley Tobin still captures what people don’t always see.
Programs like these aren’t built on showing up for practice — they’re built on the hours no one talks about. The late‑night calls. The weekend meetings that stretch into three‑and‑a‑half‑hour deep dives. The constant push to evolve, adjust, and get better for the kids who show up every day.
It’s a reminder that great coaching isn’t accidental. It’s intentional, relentless, and rooted in a love for the work that happens long before anyone steps onto the court or field.

As we look back on the moments that kicked off our first year of Airdrie Inside, this clip taken at Glitch Gaming @glitchgaming.ca still captures the vibe perfectly.
Chris and the team were gearing up to film three full episodes in one of the most visually striking venues in the city — walls covered in art, lights everywhere, and a space built for creativity. It was the perfect backdrop to learn more about Airdrie and the people who make it what it is.
A full stretch of questions.
A full stretch of stories.
A full stretch of discovering just how much this city has to offer
And honestly… we couldn’t wait then, and we still can’t now.
If you haven’t been to Glitch yet, this is your sign — and your spoiler alert.

From the clips that shaped our 2025 conversations, John Langenau’s episode still hits differently. What started as a normal conversation quickly shifted into one of the most emotional recordings of the year — a moment rooted in memory, legacy, and the impact one young life can leave behind.
Seeing those gears instantly brought the memory back. The way the kids interacted in the video, the way those moments still ripple through families and teammates — it was a powerful reminder of how important it is to keep a story alive.
And that’s exactly what the Kalix Legacy Foundation does. It honours a life, supports a community, and carries forward a legacy that continues to touch people far beyond the field

As we bring forward another insight from 2025, this reflection with Willie Williams @willysnypes @coliseum_athletics stands out as a reminder of what Airdrie could be when collaboration comes first.
Willie speaks honestly about the challenge he sees: so many kids could benefit from shared knowledge, shared resources, and shared leadership — but too often, groups stay in their own corners, doing things their own way instead of working toward a common good.
Great coaching is a lineage. Techniques are passed down, refined, and shared. No one invents everything themselves — they learn from those who came before them.
That’s the spirit Airdrie thrives on.
Not competition between groups, but collaboration that lifts everyone higher.

Pulled from the heartbeat of 2025, this scene featuring Damion Smith @damion_smith09 still hits hard for anyone who’s ever felt stuck or surrounded by the wrong influences.
When asked what advice he’d give to kids in the same place he once was, Damion kept it simple and honest: he wanted a different life — and he chased it. He looked at the people around him, saw what was possible, and decided that’s where he wanted to go.
Damion didn’t just pull himself out of the fire.
He built something stronger on the other side.
The moment you decide you want more is the moment your whole story starts to shift.

Back in the frame of February last year, this moment with Ryan Middleton still shows what real collaboration looks like.
Airdrie ambulances used to spend most of their time covering calls in Calgary — around 6,000 a year — while handling 3,000 locally. But through the work of paramedics, community voices, provincial partners, and people willing to speak up, things shifted.
Ryan shared how proud he was to finally spend most of his time serving the city he starts and ends his shift in. Not because of one person’s advocacy, but because an entire network of people chose to work together and move the system forward.
It’s a reminder that progress isn’t accidental. It’s built by people who care enough to keep pushing.
When a community aligns around the same goal, the wins start to show up where they matter most.

As we continue reflecting on our 2025 archives, this conversation with Demi Broderick at @creatingfuturesairdrie @demibroderick remains the blueprint for what it means to be a community leader in Airdrie. Most people see a “small business owner.” We see someone who noticed a major need in the community and had the courage to build the solution — a solution that now employs 85 people. That’s the difference between making a living and building a city.
Airdrie has outgrown its bedroom‑community label. It’s becoming a city that stands on its own because leaders like Demi refuse to play small.
Building a business is one thing; Building an ecosystem is another level entirely.
