I finished this during the #akaraspringspinalong although not all of it was spun during that time. This was the Polwarth fibre option and I loved every minute of spinning it. Next slide is what I’m going to cast on IMMEDIATELY after I soak and dry my skeins, the #anesidorashawl by @larkspurknits I think it will be amazing

And that's a wrap on the #akaraspringspinalong with 277g of fibre spun. I'm partially done three projects and very happy with my progress on getting some consistency with my spinning!

This spinalong has been so much fun, but I've also been reflecting on how much slower it is to spin with a spindle vs a wheel or e-spinner.

I struggled with comparing myself to others during this spinalong because I saw so many folks spinning so much, and I was struggling to spin 100g in a week. I lost a lot of motivation about halfway through the challenge and only got that motivation back in the last couple of days when I realized that spinning is not a competition.

It has been a good reminder that I am not spinning yarn for anyone but myself. It is supposed to be fun and not forced.

Well, here we are at the end of the #akaraspringspinalong!

Over the last month, I hand spun at least 2676 yards of yarn, not including whatever is on my bobbins right now!

Thank you to @akarayarns for hosting this challenge! It gave me the discipline to spin daily and work on my spinning goals. Over the last month, I learned how to:
✅ spin lighter and lighter yarns
✅ get more yardage out of every braid and batt I spin
✅ be more intentional about the fibre I purchase to spin with and plan my projects more thoughtfully

I also loved following other people’s spinning journey and connecting with other spinners 💕

Can’t wait to do it again!

First finished spin for #akaraspringspinalong is this beautiful BFL dyed by @bramble_ridge and plied double, it weighs 98g and measures 345y. At 16 WPI it ended up lace weight. I got to use my @ashford_wheels_looms niddy noddy for the first time to wind the skein, and my @batbinding_ spinning journal to keep track of the details.

My very first spin using some beautiful fibre dyed by the lovely @akarayarns and just in time to join along for the spinalong!

Hangry on Falkland wool.
This fibre has been a pleasure to draft from. Enough grit to draft comfortably and a long enough staple length that it's not coming apart all the time. 🤩
