POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Congratulations to DJ Madden who I’ve had the pleasure to watch grow up and actually hunt with. An amazing young man and a pain in the butt at the same time…😉 This is DJ’s first bow kill and I couldn’t be prouder. He used the Hyde Broadhead on some arrows I’m very familiar with, but that’s for another time. Congrats again DJ.

Do you have a recurve with twisted limbs?

Well here is a quick fix for a light poundage bow. This happens to be the Lil John recurve from @3riversarchery , 10# at 16”

This bow was left outside in the sun for a few days which will almost always cause the limbs to twist.

All you need is a couple things. 2 clamps, 2 2x4 blocks with a groove large enough to slip over the limbs. Make sure the cut in the wood is at an angle, preferably 5°-10°, a hair dryer and a wet rag.

Clamp the limbs down making sure that the slot in the wood pulls the limbs opposite of the twist.

Place a damp rag on the string so you don’t get it too hot.

Gently and carefully heat up the limbs to a point where they are hot to the touch but not too hot that you can’t grab them.

Let them cool slowly, no need to help them with air or water.

Repeat this step until you get the limbs straight again.

Hope this helps, like and subscribe for more!

First bear with a compound bow! I’ve shot a fair number with the stick bow and one with a rifle but firsts are always special! It’s all fun! #huntalaska #blackbearhunting #earnyourhunt
