Finished my Level 2 sound healing training this weekend 🤍
The final step in my certified sound healer training, and such a nice two days of learning, practising and playing with so many different bowls.
Curious to see where this will take me…. #soundhealing

Next April, Shannon van Staden and Lama Brian of @aki.soundstudio based in Brussels, Belgium, are coming to Light House to teach their Level 1 Sound Healing Training.

It’s only the second time they’ve offered it outside Europe, and we’re so happy it’s returning.

If you’ve been curious about working with sound, whether for your own healing or to bring it into your practice, this Live is a good place to start.

On Wednesday 14 October at 8pm SAST, @dranesumbizvo will host a Live on her account with Shannon to talk about:

• what sound healing is and how it works
• what happens during the training
• who it’s for (no musical experience needed)

Follow @dranesumbizvo so you don’t miss it, and drop your questions in the comments here or during the Live.

See you there 🤍

A new energy has arrived. 🤍

Mother of Platinum. @aki.soundstudio 🌟
Quartz, platinum and mother of pearl.

A pearl is born from something that disturbs.
Layer after layer, it transforms challenge into beauty.

This alchemy resonates deeply with my year.

Holding my story with compassion.
Giving voice to what is true.
Transforming experience into wisdom.

Expression. Love. Compassion.

Welcome, Mother of Platinum.
You arrived at exactly the right moment.

“I transform challenges into pearls of wisdom.” 🤍

I went to @aki.soundstudio for a bowl consultation, because I felt like expanding my current set. I wanted to add a binaural beat, but I ended up putting together the most beautiful set with unique pieces that compliment each other so well.

These bowls came in my life and changed it and brought the things I needed closer to me, up for grabs. I don’t expect the same thing to happen, but I just feel it every time I visit AKI that things will shift.

Thank you @aki.soundstudio 🤍

The first time I walked into Aki Sound Studio, it wasn’t for a training. It was for a New Moon sound bath.

It wasn’t my first sound bath, but lying there, surrounded by the colourful bowls, the warm space and cozy blankets and I had this very simple feeling: I feel at home here.

At that time, I was going through a period where I felt very overwhelmed and too switched on, and something about the calm I felt there really stayed with me.

Timings in life aligned and one month later, I came back for the Level 1 training because I wanted to understand that feeling better. What was it about sound that made me feel that way, and how could I find more of it in my own life?

I thought I was just following my curiosity, learning more about the bowls, how sound works, and how to play them.

But I left that weekend with something else too. I didn’t only want to keep exploring sound for myself…one day, I wanted to share that feeling with others too.

And slowly, without much of a plan, that curiosity grew into what is now Sound Within.

Very grateful to Shannon, Lama Brian and @aki.soundstudio for creating a space where I felt at home, for sharing so much with us and for opening a door to this world, I didn’t know I needed yet. 💫

🇬🇧 Every summer, I learn something new, something a little off the beaten track, that speaks to the whole person: mind, hand and senses at once. This year: Alchemy Crystal Singing Bowls, five days by the Mediterranean, now a certified Level 1 Practitioner.

The bowls taught me to listen. And that matters more than ever, with so much AI running through my working life. AI is fast at producing and answering. What it cannot do for us is sense a room, catch the undertones, feel what a person conveys without words. That fine perception is becoming a key skill, the more AI enters our everyday.

What did you learn this summer that seemed far from your daily work, and turned out to matter?
