POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

My podcast is back lovers & I brought back one of my favorites to talk about freedom in the in between. When we don’t have everything figured out, when we aren’t sure where we stand but we know where we don’t stand. It’s a beautiful & messy spot & I’m currently living in one. Thank you @alabrown22 from @simplemoderntherapy for taking the time to share your thoughts with us. If you’d like the direct link comment LINK & I will send it over!

Otherwise you can find the @this.isashlynn podcast on every platform you listen to podcasts.

Being oppressed is weird and emotionally taxing

At least that is what you hear growing up. Family first, friends last.

We went to the Westerner last night to line dance. For a few of our group it was their first time. Line dancing is something I love, so getting to share it with them hit different. A night full of laughing and a whole lot of yee-haws.

Your friends are the people who know you as your actual self. They step out of their comfort zone for something you love even when it is not their thing. They cheer you on. They call you out when you need it. They give you so much love you cannot help but laugh around them.

Friends are not overrated. They are the whole thing.

Grateful this morning.

Happy anniversary to this love of ours! The traditional 9-year anniversary gift is something made from clay or willow branches, both highlighting how relationships ask us to be pliable, to bend together. I see our marriage as a vessel we’re making, smoothing and shaping it as we go so it can hold our hopes, our imperfections, and all our tenderness.

I’m so grateful for a beautiful, vibrant, smart, big-hearted partner in this endeavor, one whose hands I can trust and hold. Love you, @alabrown22 🤍

Had a great experience presenting at the Mormon Mental Health Association conference and connecting with dear friends there and at Sunstone.

I presented on using a handful of Internal Family Systems (IFS) tools to help clients with faith issues, such as faith crisis, faith transition, mixed-faith marriage, or identity reconstruction.

Our therapy practice, @wasatchfamilytherapy had a beautiful booth there.

The last two pictures are me deciding to cut my own hair the night before presenting. 🤪😬😅

I’ve been reliving the @mormonmentalhealthassoc conference over and over again. The connections I made. The therapists I’ve admired from afar and finally got to meet. The incredible wisdom that was shared. The divine timing of being in SLC and having the opportunity to go on @thejessconnection podcast. I’m in awe of all of it.

THANK YOU! 🤍 I hope you enjoy this photo dump of all the moments and all the incredible people.

In recovery from a few months of planning and a few days of executing. It was such a fun experience to be part of the conference committee this year, to see @shley.does.therapy spread her amazing wings and present like the psychotherapist rockstar she is, and to reconnect with so many of my favorite Utah humans. I can’t wait to get back to work and apply all the amazing things we learned. Already looking forward to next year. 🙏🏼

Oppressive institutions hate to see us coming! ✌🏽

Ar Simple Modern Therapy we believe that healing isn’t the endgame, liberation is.

✨Liberation from dogmatic and coercive religions ( we’re looking at you, LDS 👀)
✨Liberation from white supremacy and colonialism
✨Liberation from compulsive heteronormativity
✨Liberation from rigid gender expectations and binary thinking
✨Liberation from misogyny and patriarchy
✨Liberation from shame, sex negativity, and self hate

We’re on a mission to not only name our oppression, but empower each of us to break free from our oppression. Both internally and externally. Our liberations are intertwined— none of us are free until all of us are free.

So, buckle up baby! This work is not for the faint of heart. We believe in you. We’re glad you’re here. We are in this together. 🫶🏽
