NOTHIN’ BUT BOGEYS TABLE READ - NOW STREAMING

If you couldn’t join us at Zepstone, now’s your chance to watch on YouTube @nothinbutbogeys link in bio

What started by getting up on its legs at the Utah International Film Festival @theutahfilmfestival earlier this year really hit its stride at the 2026 Zepstone International Film Festival, where Nothin’ But Bogeys was an Official Selection, Round Winner, Annual Finalist, Nominee and ultimately took home Best Original Screenplay Short!

Huge thanks to our incredibly talented Zepstone table read cast: Ischa Bee @ischabee , Shane Morrisun @shanemorrisun , Tony Rivas @cynesthete , and Harrison Timm @harrisonctimm for bringing these characters to life and delivering an incredibly funny performance, and to everyone who joined us in the audience and shared their laughter and support.

And another huge thank you to Alicia @aliciaofarmer and John Farmer and the entire Zepstone team @zepfestofficial for giving us the opportunity to share this story with a live audience and for creating a space for indie filmmakers.

Now we’d love to share it with an even bigger audience.

▶️ Watch the full table read on YouTube, and if it makes you laugh, please like, comment, subscribe, share

Every view, follow, share, and comment helps demonstrate that there’s an audience for original indie comedy and helps us keep chasing the big dream of taking Nothin’ But Bogeys to the big screen. Big Dream = Big Screen. Thank you to everyone who has supported this project so far. Incredibly grateful to have you along for the ride. ⛳️

More to come!

We’ve been experimenting with the new MetaHuman Animator Markerless Motion Capture tools in Unreal Engine 5.8, and the results are seriously incredible.

The new workflow can take ordinary single-camera video and extract a full digital performance - body, hands, and facial animation without a mocap suit, tracking markers, or a dedicated motion-capture stage. That performance can then drive a MetaHuman or be retargeted onto other digital characters. For ARTIFEX, this is exciting because what it can mean for indie filmmaking and preproduction.

We can capture a rough performance during a location scout, bring it into Unreal, and begin blocking the scene with an actor already moving through the environment. From there we can experiment with camera placement, lens selection, lighting, VFX, staging, and performance long before committing valuable production resources on the day.

We’ve also been combining these tools with photogrammetry scans of our actual shooting locations, essentially creating digital versions of the spaces we’ll eventually photograph.

That means we can put a rough performance inside the real location, walk virtual cameras through it, test lenses and camera moves, explore lighting ideas, practice tracking workflows, discover entirely new shots, and identify logistical problems in a digital sandbox before ever bringing the full crew to set.

This is one of the promises of virtual production and incorporating it into the pipeline. Not only using photoreal digital environments to take us to historical locations that would otherwise be impossible to access, but also finding new ways to bridge the living world with the digital one during our practical shoots.

Can’t wait to bring some of what we’re learning through these experiments back into Jake Dickey’s @leerafel Virtual Production class at SLCC @saltlakecc this fall semester!

More experiments from the world of ARTIFEX coming soon.

One step closer to the first tee…

We recently spent the day at Hiveminded Studios @hivemindedstudios experimenting with an original Nothin’ But Bogeys theme song, and we’re hoping to premiere it live during our table read at the Zepstone International Film Festival @zepfestofficial on September 1! Featuring Ischa Bee @ischabee, Matt Webb @mattywebbbbb, Shane Morrison @shanemorrisun, and Moogy Ronin @ronindascholar, this project keeps growing in exciting ways, and we can’t wait to bring everyone back together!

A huge thank you to Hiveminded Studios for being such an incredible creative partner over the years across so many projects. Special shoutout to Jed Roundy @jedthedeadhead and Tristan Axworthy @slapfarmer, both are amazing artists, your talent and creativity always elevates the work, and it’s always a privilege to collaborate.

If you’re planning to attend Zepstone, come join us for the table read and (fingers crossed!) be among the first to hear the new theme song. Tickets are available now! We’d love to see you there! @nothinbutbogeys

We headed back underground for our 2nd cave scout for an upcoming historical fantasy flashback sequence, with cinematographer Joseph Olivas @owleyedproductions , producer/performer Dustin Perry @delpeartree @hivemindedstudios , and director Alan Lucchetti @alan.lucchetti walking through blocking, lighting, camera movement, and story beats.

There’s something slightly ridiculous about asking your DP to shoot in literally one of the darkest places imaginable: inside a cave, at night. When the lights go out, it is total pitch black. No ambient glow. No friendly bounce. No cheating.

We’ll definitely be checking every battery twice.

But that’s also what makes it exciting. By incorporating the real environment with the latest virtual production tools, we’re building a world that feels ancient, supernatural, yet still grounded in something tactile and real.

More ARTIFEX news and bts videos coming soon.
What do you think happens in the cave?

Experimenting this week with photogrammetry, scanning future shooting locations to build realistic (and not-so realistic) 3D virtual sets for pre-viz and virtual production.

There are incredible horizons opening up for independent films…

Time erases everything
except what we create
To create is to carve a wound in time
that refuses to heal
Every masterpiece is a ghost
a heartbeat trapped
