Some friendships just pick up right where they left off. The last time I saw Alan Stein Jr. was when we were both in Macau, China, for MDRT’s Global Conference last year. We had each traveled there on our own, but during my connection through Singapore, Alan reached out. We met up in the airport lounge and somehow, from that point on, we ended up together for practically every meal over the next three days in Macau. That’s just Alan. I love his energy, his enthusiasm, and the way he makes people feel. He’s a tremendous speaker, but even more importantly, he’s a really good guy. So when he reached out recently and told me he was going to be in San Diego for an event and asked if I was free for dinner, there was no hesitation. Of course I said yes. It was great catching up in my hometown and talking about life, the speaking industry, business, and everything in between. I’m continually reminded that one of the best parts of this career isn’t just the places it takes you or the stages you get to stand on. It’s the people you meet along the way. Surround yourself with good people. And when you find them, make time for them. Thanks for dinner and the conversation, Alan. Already looking forward to the next one.

A busy speaking season! 3 speeches this week ✈️ Chicago → Kansas City → home. 1. Such an honor sharing the stage with @thesavbananas CEO @yellowtuxjesse and @alansteinjr. I’m often the only woman speaking at these events, so I loved seeing a female CEO leading the way too. And somehow we showed up matching without even trying. 😂 2. This was such a sweet day because Derek and Hayley’s mom @debbie_schwartz came to see me speak. ❤️ So special having her there. 3. Two talks, back-to-back! They split the audience into two groups, which meant I got to do the same keynote twice. And I actually loved feeling how different the energy was even doing the same speech twice. 😆 4. I LOVE when companies get creative with their events. Give me an unexpected venue over another hotel ballroom any day. 5. Not a bad office for the day… speaking in a stadium! That’s fun!🏟️ 6. Three speeches back-to-back, and now I’m headed HOME for three days before doing three more. 😂🎤 A full week, a tired voice, and a very full heart.
