As I move into the next year of my life ,
I hold onto what it means to speak with openness and listen with grace.

I hold onto, “if you don’t feel fear, well how can you be brave?” in order to move mountains knowing it will take others to better places. This, this is our service to one another.

I hold onto the friendships that have lasted decades through all of the dark and bright spaces but I also hold onto the friendships that need not the length of time to prove its quality but rather a “depth that knows no time.”

I hold onto moments, for they remind me of a place many of us dream of– in this nation, in this world, within ourselves: A place of Peace, where we are no longer at war with ourselves.

I hold onto every smile from every stranger,  every nod acknowledged as an “I see you,”
Because I see you.

And I wonder, if we will ever be able to see citizens apart for their government, if we will ever stop applying extremists to an entire nation, to an entire religion.

I wonder what freedom will mean for all of us, not just across this nation but across the world. The words of Emma Lazarus feel empty as words are shaped by the human spirit, with this spirit having lost its way.

At 36 the work has only begun. It is always only just beginning. I hope you can one day look at another as yourself. I hope one day the curtains will draw back and we can release the knot from our chest and exhale. 

My wish on this birthday, May we do our part and help carry each other home.

What a way to start my 2nd competitive BBing season. I'll reflect on the actual BBing aspects of my season as a whole once it's complete, but for now, simply going to appreciate each show as they happen.
-
Although she was terrified of my tan and acted like she didn't know who I was, I'm very grateful that my daughter was able to be there to see me do what I love. This is only the start so she better get used to it 😂. And of course, none of this would be possible without the love and support of my amazing wife @monstar319. Not only does she have to deal with a prep-brained husband and an 18-month old wild child, but to be carrying our 2nd child as well, she's the true champ 🏆.

To all my family and friends that came out and made the drive over, that I shared a post-show meal with, or that couldn't physically be there, I can't express how grateful I am to have such a loving support system. You all mean the world to me 💙.

And to @team_franco_bodybuilding and
@ocbofficialpage, this was a perfectly run show and a model for how all shows should be run. You guys were great and I look forward to competing with you again in the future

Finally, huge congrats to all the competitors yesterday, to @officer_tolbert for the 🥇, and to @bbingnu for allowing me to guide him to his first stage appearance (you freaking killed it btw). Also thankful to have met @djarnold192, @joe_poliska, and all the other great people I met along the way.

Thankful I get to do this again in 13 days. @3dmjcoach and @team3dmj, we've got some work to do, but we're just getting started. #NattyDaddyPrep continues...

🏀 BBALL + DONUTS 🍩 ‼️— 📍Brooklyn — @swishhousefitnyc is the only class that can get me up early enough to take a 7:30am workout class in Brooklyn coming from New Jersey. 😵‍💫 (Where my early birds at?? Lol.) — What makes the trip even more worth it is getting @peterpandonut after. This is literally my idea of a perfect Friday morning. 🥰 (Maybe add in a sunny afternoon at the beach afterwards to be even more perf. 😂) — I went to work after this though, lol. 😅 — Come take a class with me! #notSP #justfunAF
